A lesser-known gem from 1951, FOURTEEN HOURS stars a young Richard Basehart as Robert, a malcontent who decides to end it all by jumping from the ledge of a skyscraper. Officer Charlie Dunnigan (Paul Douglas) happens by and notices him, and spends the next 14 hours rising to the difficult task of convincing Robert not to throw his life away. Meanwhile, in an adjacent building, a young woman (Grace Kelly in her first role) reconsiders her divorce, and two people in the street below (Jeffrey Hunter and Debra Paget) meet and discover a common bond. Getting A Panoramic View Of NYC From Way Up High
"14 Hours" is a very entertaining movie and features an array of well known actors from classic Hollywood. The New York City locations and broad scope of the city scenes help elevate this film above its B movie budget in a pretty spectacular fashion. It's all about a disturbed man, high on a building's ledge, threatening to jump and the many people who are witnessing the event. and others who are trying to help him. It's all very dramatic and it keeps the viewer's attention very well. I give this on a thumbs up. It's great, old, Hollywood fare.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
