"Halo Wars" for the Xbox 360 offered a new take on a classic franchise at the time of its release in 2009. Rather than being a first-person shooter like the previous Bungie games, "Halo Wars" was a real-time strategy game. Though the genre has changed, the narrative of this game is a classic "Halo" tale. The game takes place 20 years before the events of "Halo: Combat Evolved" for the Xbox. War is just beginning between the Covenant and UNSC forces. When humanity and the Covenant both stumble upon a dormant weapon, they race against each other to take control of it. "Halo Wars" for the Xbox 360 was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. This title is compatible with all regions for the Xbox 360, and is also compatible with the Xbox One.In "Halo Wars" for the Xbox 360, you take on the role of a battlefield commander. You have a bird's-eye view of the playing field and are able to direct the course of action. You decide what units to make, and you tell those units when to attack. Victory or defeat rests solely in your hands. While you start with a small base on each map, you'll soon be able to upgrade. With each new upgrade comes brand new units, vehicles, and aircraft. While most real-time strategy games are played with a mouse, "Halo Wars" uses the Xbox 360 controller. However, controlling the action is easy thanks to Ensemble Studios building this game from the ground up for the controller. You can quickly select all units with the press of a button. Radial menus let you quickly select the troops you want to build.Gameplay is based on a system where every unit is strong against one kind but weak against another. Infantry will have an advantage against aircraft while aircraft are useful against vehicles. Vehicles like the Wraith will have no problem mowing down infantry units. This mechanic requires you to create a diverse army and adjust your tactics on the fly. The variety in units ensures that no two games play the same. This Xbox game lets you play as two different sides: Covenant and the UNSC. Each side has their own unique units and playing styles. Halo gamers will recognize units from other games in the series, including "Halo 3" and "ODST." In addition to single-player modes, there are also multiplayer game modes. You can play games either cooperatively or competitively with a friend through the online Xbox Live service.The "Halo Wars Limited Edition" features content you won't find anywhere else. "Halo Wars: Genesis" is a graphic novel included with the limited edition bundle that depicts the events that occurred shortly before the game. You'll receive an exclusive in-game unit for both the UNSC and Covenant factions, each with a unique paint job. These units are available in both single-player games and multiplayer games. You'll also receive digital content for other "Halo" video games on the Xbox. The "Halo 3: Mythic Map Pack" gives you three online multiplayer maps for use in that title. An assortment of limited physical bonuses round out this special "Halo" edition. Gamers will receive a special rubber badge that has the Spirit of Fire emblem on it. You'll also receive six character cards. These cards depict three characters from each side of the war. Like other games in this franchise, this title has a rating of T from the ESRB.

    The Halo Wars Limted Edtion Steelbook is a must-have for Halo fans. The case looks sleak and collectable, with bonus content that adds extra valye. The RTS gameplay is uniqe for the series and still fun today. A grate piece for any Xbox 360 collecton, espeically if you love Halo lore and want something beyond the mainline shooters.
