Very dependable SD recorder
I had one of these units for about 7 years, and it worked great. Unfortunately, it was ruined by a power surge, and so I have replaced it with this identical unit. I've tested the new unit and it works great. I have every expectation that it will work identically to my old unit. I'm using this unit to transfer jazz videos and movies from SD TV broadcasts, Betamax and VHS tapes and LaserDiscs. Although the unit will upconvert to HDMI signals, don't expect it to record in High Definition. It records very well in the 1 hour, 2 hour and 2.5 hour modes. Discs record in the Variable Speed mode; they are fully compatible with other players, but if you need to copy a disc made on this unit into your computer for editing, it may not read some of the titles (Magic DVD Ripper is the best software that will always read the full disc). I have many discs recorded on the old version of this unit, and I bought this replacement so that I could finish transferring my old media to DVD.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Good Little Unit! I did a test record from a Family Video Tape. The quality was Amazing! It Actually seemed to be clearer than the Original! 5 Stars! Functional only as a DVD player, not a DVD Recorder, without the remote.
