Masterpiece from the time of classical Science fiction
I read this wonderful book the first time when I was rather young, in the 60s. I read it together with Childhood's End by Clarke and both books made a terrific impression on the young mind of mine. While Childhood's End transferred a certain sadness - everything passes - City and the Stars had a fantastic optimism and just enough mystification to make you keep the book in your mind for a long time afterwards. What happened to humanity and where did they go and how will Diaspar ana Lys unite? And can we really hope for Billion of years of development and how could Clarke foresee the visionary ideas of computerization? I have read the book 10 times totally and my old pocketbook copy was falling to pieces so this beautiful hardcover copy came like from above. I look forward to reading it an eleventh time.....
