Packaged with plenty of padding in an actual box instead of a poly or bubble envelope. This is how you ship a CD so it arrives in the same condition the seller put it in the box so that it doesn't get damaged along the way, especially since this is a rare item (priced very nicely, too) in a 4-disc fat box, which is a pain to replace if it arrives broken. No such issue here since this is a quality seller knows what the heck he is doing. Count me as very pleased.

WOW! I ordered two CD’s from this seller and they arrived incredibly quickly and packed extremely well. Not only that, the seller refunded part of the shipping cost because two were coming to the same place. Very pleased!!!

  • A recording worthy of both Verdi and Shakespeare.

This studio recording was made late in 1958 prior to the debut of the new production of Macbeth by the Metropolitan Opera in February 1959. The same principals are in this recording as in the Met production, including the conductor, orchestra, and chorus. Leonard Warren was outstanding as Macbeth, imbuing every word and note with its proper meaning, color and dynamic. Jerome Hines brought his dark basso Banquo. Carlo Bergonzi was a fresh voiced Italianate Macduff. Leonie Rysanek had both the dramatic intensity and coloratura necessary for Lady Macbeth. While maybe lacking a bit of the immediacy of the February 1959 Met historic broadcast recently presented on Sirius Met Opera Radio, this is a compelling recording, doing justice both to Verdi and Shakespeare. Highly recommended! The 2 CD ...
