The iPod I bought was of the last generation of iPods, very thin, in several colors and high capacity topping at 160GB, before they line was discontinued 3 or 4 years ago,In the height of MP3 players, iPods were the dominating product, easy to use, great functionality and sound, Initially it was a bit bulky due to the size of the hard drive and battery and with relatively small capacity (5-10 gigs), constrained by the existing technology, but that didn't stop many of music aficionados like me, to start converting their music CD collection and creating an iTunes library, as time went by, Apple came out with models with more capacity and thinner,. The 120GB I got was almost like new condition, no scratches and working perfectly.

I was unable to sync any music to the iPod so I used the CopyTrans software and I was able to sync a few thousand songs. Every time I tried to sync with iTunes there were errors.I thought it might be because the hard drive wasn't formatted correctly so after formatting to Fat32 I ran diagnostics and it had 16000 bad sectors. I ran 2 different hard drive recovery programs that failed. After testing I wasn't able to sync with CopyTrans anymore. The hard drive needs to be replaced.

When Apple launched it's iPod series, I doubt that even they had any idea how far and how widely accepted the iPod would become. This goes to show that if you truly develop an exceptional product, people will want it. [If you build it, they will come]. Based on a HDD, the iPod Classic remains stiff competition. Although there are newer, lighter, more appealing models of the iPod, there is just something about owning an iPod classic. You are part of history. Sure the new Classic is much improved to the 1st generation models, with its smaller form factor, sleeker design, and inclusion of Video. If you are looking for storage space for your HUGE music library, this model is the way to go. It's nice to have flash based players, but you will never get the storage space of a HDD based device. 120gb is AMPLE space for my library, with room for more. The Classic also can double as an external drive, which is excellent to move files around for the always-on-the-go traveler. The sound from the included ear buds is satisfactory, and if left in for long periods, it may be a little uncomfortable. That is the only reason I didn't give it an "Excellent" rating. The iPod Classic fits in your pocket, which makes it great to take with you on the go. There are a slew of accessories available which is scary for your wallet. All in all, a great product! Highly recommended.Read full review
The iPod is a great little device to always have your MP3 library on the go with you. Strongly recommend you upgrade the standard earbuds to perhaps a full earcup style headphones like the Sennnheiser HD202 model which can be found online for around $20. Fantastic sound at a great price. Using iTunes with the iPod can be frustrating at times with all the limitations and restrictions imposed by Apple, Inc. The new iPod classic is noticeably less responsive to touch commands than earlier generation iPod models. The vast amount of storage space in the 120GB model is worth the investment if it costs you less than $200, such as did mine. The video capability is nice but it can become uncomfortable viewing video on such a small screen after a short while. Even if you do not own much digital music, there is plenty of free podcasts online and in iTunes, both video and audio podcasts, to keep you occupied and entertained for quite a while. The ability to create and save a new playlist on the go is a nice feature. The iPod is here to stay!Read full review
iPods are great when they work...the only problem is, this is my 3rd one in my life. In general if you take good care of it, they'll last, but sometimes there are aberrations and/or flukes. My last one was only 2 years old when it crapped the bed. My new iPod Classic hasn't given me any problems yet. Seems good. Having 120 Gigs is amazing, I don't have to be selective about what movies/music I put on it. It's pretty great having an iPod with a hard drive almost the size of my entire computer. iPod's are so great that even when they break we buy new ones -- I just wish Apple's best selling product was more reliable. That's why I don't give the "excellent" rating.
I just got one of these to replace my iPod nano (I know, soo old school already). I really like it for the most part. The pictures come out so clear & it holds a charge a lot better than my nano has been doing lately. There are just a few tiny things I don't like (most of which is physical), some things most ppl wouldn't even bat an eyelash over. I don't like the usb cable ipods come with now. I didn't realize it before I bought it, but the usb cable is different. It's about half the size of the original one & it no longer has the buttons to push for it to release the iPod; now you just insert the plug & pull it out when it's done. I'm not too cool with that; I like the original one that needs to be squeezed to be pulled out. I also don't like the weight of it - it's HEAVY. From a nano to this is a big change - I prefer the weight of the iPod touch. Again, I love the clarity of the pictures on it. The nano had such a tiny screen - this is a huge jump in screen size. The video feature is two-fold for me. I love the fact that this iPod plays video, something I had wished upon wish that I had on the nano. What I'm not fond of is that the movies play in full screen mode. I'm not sure if it makes a difference whether the movie is an actual full screen movie or if it's wide screen, but if it makes a difference then iTunes needs to start offering movies in wide screen format & make a note of them. I purchased Twilight & it plays in wide screen format on my laptop, which I love but it plays full screen on the iPod, which I hate because some scenes there's no ppl, just scenery because Bella or Edward are on the very edges of the screen. It should play video in wide screen! The fact that the brightness of the screen can be changed is another thing I like. It comes in handy on long car rides home from work when your eyes are used to dim lights. Now instead of blinding yourself to try to look at the screen, it can be set to be dimmer. There's a "search" option it too, which comes in handy if your library is HUGE (i.e., 2000+ songs). Instead of scrolling & scrolling & scrolling & scrolling & SCROLLING for all of eternity, you can simply input what you're looking for. The search feature is also predictive in the sense of you don't have to put the ENTIRE title of what you're searching for - it'll start narrowing down the possibilities of what it is you're searching for. All in all, it was a great deal for the price paid.Read full review
I've been owning and using the earlier generation iPod classics (60 & 80 gb), and really like this one! With the 6th generation iPods, when you scroll down the list, it shows the album covers, which is very cool. The larger capacity means I can fit a greater percentage of my 200 gb of music inside. The only drawback is that, compared to the older iPod classics -- which show the album cover when you are playing the music, which I like -- the 6th generation iPod shows the album cover turned slightly sideways, with this unpleasant faded mirror effect on the bottom, as if the artwork is mounted on a highly polished table top. I don't like that as much. Nevertheless, I highly recommend the 6th generation iPod classic, with gradual, subtle improvements over the older, smaller-capacity classics.Read full review
I am the type of person who listens to all types of music so I needed an MP3 player that has lots of memory. I didn't want to buy into all the Apple I POD frenzy but it seems that its the only MP3 with mass storage and a user friendly interface so I bought one. Now I didnt want to spend large amounts of money so I decided to buy a used one or refurbished one. I have nothing against someone having enjoyed my I POD and now I get to use it as well. It has been working fine so far and I love the fact that I can pump it with any song that pops into my head. It also has video so I can put tons of movies or music videos and still have room for my crazy mash of songs. I do not use the other applications as much like the games, calendar, alarms, photos. I have other electronics that do that and are more convienient thank you! But I guess it is nice to know you have the option to carry all your notes and pictures around? As far for what its meant to do, play music, its doing a wonderful job. My bike rides to work are more pleasant, my workout at the gym is less painful, and falling asleep has never been easier!Read full review
Just got me my first ever iPod. I have been using a Creative Zen Micro for years, but it's starting to show its age. So, the obvious choice was to get an iPod. I decided to go with an iPod Classic 120 GB, mostly because of the storage capacity. I have more music than I can fit on a 16 GB iPod Nano, so the Classic 120 GB was a natural choice. Finally, I can have all my music in one place and bring it along where ever I go. My iPod Classic is the black one. It looks really nice, and the size is a bit bigger than my Creative Zen Micro. It has a good screen on it, and perhaps I'll get some more videos on it in time. Definitely want to add some cool guitar pics and family photos to show off to friends! On this screen, it will look great. I took it along for a jog today, and it fit snug into my running jacket's breast pocket. It's not very heavy, even though it is not a small unit. iTunes and iPod goes hand in pocket. The integration between the two is very slick. Of course, iTunes has a lot of great music, and it is so easy to find it, which also means it's VERY easy to buy music! I have to be careful so I don't go overboard with buying music on iTunes. Once you go on a search and find some gems, you can't help yourself and those Buy buttons are like magnets... There are of course games to be bought on iTunes too, but I doubt I'll be doing much of that. I also like the coverflow feature, the calendar, alarms, and watching photo slideshows. You can even hook up the iPod to a TV! That's pretty slick. The stopwatch I'll definitely use sometime, since I'm an avid runner and running coach. I am very happy with this iPod so far. It is easy to use it, and it both sounds and looks great. What more is needed? I guess FM radio would have been nice, and voice recording too (oops - it has that already). The metal back got scratched easily, although I don't really care much about that. But overall, I highly recommend the iPod Classic if you want to store, listen and bring along lots of music with minimal hassle.Read full review
Ipod is great, I love it!!! I decided to get rid of my 30GB Zune and upgrade to the ipod. I chose this because of the storage size and the price. The only downside is that the Zune had a built in FM radio that I used on a daily basis. The Ipod does not. You can buy accessories that will allow FM reception, but some have a lot of extra cord and it's another thing to keep in your pocket. Other than not having a radio, it is tottaly awesome. I plan on buying another one for my fiance in the near future.
