This is a great port of a classic game! It fixes some of the bugs that were in the original, and the translation has been vastly improved. The reason i didn't give this version 5 stars is because of a few issues: 1) The GBA has worse sound capabilities than the SNES, so the music's not as good as the original version. 2) The game has a few new bugs, including one that spontaneously deletes your saved data, although this only seems to happen to some people. 3) The game has been censored, most notably Celes's incarseration in South Figaro. 4) The Chocobo sequences seem unfinished. The turning speed of the Chocobos is much slower than it used to be, and i often have to stop and turn because turning whilest moving results in crashing into alot of walls. Also, while the movment speed of the Chocobos is the same as before, the Chocobo animation is about 3x faster, so it looks like you should be moving much faster than you actually are. This is made even more awkward by the fact that the turning animation is the same as the SNES version, so you can clearly see the Chocobo's legs whilelst turning, but as soon as you start moving forward the Chocobo's legs dissapear in a Sonic-the-Hedgehog-like blur of motion. Despite these issues, this is still an exellent port, and i recomend it to any fan of the original and RPG fans in general.Read full review

This is easily one of the best FF titles in the JRPG genre and a classic. Gripping characters, story, and all accessible on the GBA, one of my favorite handheld consoles. Great port from SNES!

This game was first released on Super Nintendo as the misappropriated Final Fantasy III, hence the 'Super' in the title of my review to differentiate from the actual Final Fantasy III for the japanese NES that was recently remade and rereleased for Nintendo DS. I also used 'Super' as a homage to the many many SNES games that started with the title of 'Super' to distinguish their superiority from their NES counterparts. Now, down to business. This game is almost an exact copy/port from the SNES cart except a for a few enhancements, which are fantastic. 1. The Bestiary - a detailed exhaustive list of all enemies/monsters for those OCD kids who need to 'catch em all'. 2. It's now portable - the other version were not handhold-able, unless you had a PSone with the LCD screen and battery pack. But still, who'd do that and fear looking like a major geek carrying around something the size of a small laptop just for the glitchiness that was FFVI (part of Final Fantasy Anthology)on the Playstation. Seriously, the menu loading times were just horrendous. 3. Quicksaves - no more looking for a save point for hours when you're in a dungeon if your mom (wife, in my case) tells you to 'turn the darn thing off before I break it!' 4. Re-translated script - Japanese naming conventions are used for the spells and monsters. Many of the edited and mature themes prevalent in the game's dialogue have been expressed more clearly in this version. No, no, no, relax, it's not hentai. 5. Four new espers - Leviathan, Gilgamesh, Cactuar, and Diabolos (quick, catch 'em all) 6. A new dungeon called the Dragons' Den to waste your time instead of getting something productive done. 7. The "Soul Shrine" - a place where the player can fight monsters continuously. (ditto to #6 multiplied by infinity) 8. Three new spells - Flood, Valor, and Gravija (who uses anything else once you have ultima?) 9. A music player - now you can listen your favorite songs from the game, anywhere, anytime, on the go! 10. The package features new artwork by series veteran and original character and image designer Yoshitaka Amano. Just awesome! Now for the imperfections: A: Several bugs from the original (such as the Vanish/Doom glitch and the Evade Bug) are fixed. No more easy Intangir kills. *frown* B: Most of the edits and censorship from the original Super Final Fantasy III version are also edited in the GBA port, However a scene involving Celes being punched by a soldier was completely removed (specific to this version). Suck! Who doesn't want to see a former general of the Empire clobbered by one of her own? What, are we just too queazy over here on this side of the year 2000? All in all, if you have ever known of, heard of, seen, played, or thought about playing Final Fantasy VI (Super Final Fantasy III) BUY THIS GAME!!!Read full review
