A great game for Star Wars fans and an above average expierence for any MMO player. Although this game has not reached its potential yet (as updates are coming out on a 6 week basis)it is still a very fun game with plenty to offer thru questing, PvP, operations/raids, crafting and some great guilds to make it offer something for everyone. The Collector's Edition ( original retail $150 )includes goodies for hardcore fans but little worthwile to casual players. The statue of Malgus is cool and the Journal has some nice backstory but ingame the CE offers little except one extra vendor, however when FreeToPlay comes out later this fall/winter, Collectors Edition players will recieve extra ingame currency called Cartel Coins which may help sweeten the deal.
For an older MMO game, SWTOR is still going strong and is my main got to game. The multiple story lines are always fun to explore and the steady addition of new expansions it keeps the game fresh with plenty of post game content. I love that each time you play a class you can choose different answers to tweak the storyline. as you play a class. You can play as either a Sith or a Jedi as well as non force users like a Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent, Smuggler or Republic special forces soldiers. If you enjoy being able to explore while you are in game, there is plenty opportunity for that in SWTOR with hidden holocrons and lore objects to find. There are also plenty of achievements both listed and hidden. You also have the option to play two storylines per planet with the class and a planet mission giving you plenty of opportunity to explore the planet. With a downloadable free to play option you have the option to play without any cash layout. Read full review

Having been an MMO nerd since the late 90s, I was just expecting more from this product. As with most reviews I've seen online there are some excellent features to the game, Vocalized story lines, AoE looting, excellent graphics and character animations, and customizable gear. (use of inserted items to make the gear better) However some of the things that have caused me not to redeem my CE code yet are the following. (I was in beta for over a year and my wife is still currently playing): -Character creation leaves much to be desired -Combat can be glitchy, especially for casters -Unbalanced classes for PvP -Limited use of Starship (ala Mass Effect > SWG) -50 item Auction Limit (Tons of greens can't sell) -Static UI (No customization) -Vendor/GTN Search functionality is minimal at best -LFG while present is not as function as other mmos -Minimal Guild options -Very Theme Park no room for true open exploring (on planets or using your ship) -Overall missing many bells and whistles that are standard in other games currently. Some may say it's unfair to compare this game to WoW or any other mmo on the market, however when you ask me to pay a subscription to your game you have to make me want to give up paying my current one. The Old Republic does not at this time make me want to cancel any one of my other 5 active subscriptions. While I only rate this game a 3, I have many friends who the storyline is plenty for them. I will likely wait until the first large content update or expansion before I throw myself into it. My apologies for the format of this review as it was I was not allowed paragraphs or spaces.Read full review
Star Wars: The Old Republic is a worthy successor (not sequel) to Star Wars Galaxies, and a great overall MMO, especially for Star Wars fans. It is much different than Star Wars Galaxies (the first Star Wars MMO) but includes nice graphics and sound effects and the type of music you would expect in a Star Wars film. Great for teaming up with one or more friends, and the game now offers a F2P "free to play" option for those low on cash or who play casually. I have had the game since closed beta, before launch, and it has steadily improved in quality, features and content since that time. If you are a gamer and a Star Wars fans, this is as good as it gets for an MMO that is a good fit for you. Like any MMO, voice chat is very useful for groups and guilds, so you may wish to get on TeamSpeak, Mumble, etc. if you plan on playing with others. This game offers a great deal of content and quests, both ground-based and in space and offers servers focused on PvE (player vs. environment), PvP (player vs. player), and RP (roleplay) and you can have multiple characters per server and/or play on multiple servers as you please. I recommend this game to those looking for a great story woven into a world-class MMO, especially if you plan to play with friends.Read full review
It has been many years since I have taken my younger brother to see Star Wars " A New Hope" with my girlfriend now my wife back in 1977. Though I play the games avidly since it came out I didn't see the need to purchase the "Collectors Edition" when it was available and have regretted it ever since. I am very pleased with my purchase and have no regrets doing so.
