Tried it Father's day with babyback ribs. Gauge reading was well over 325 but my probe thermometer was showing only 200 with the control dial set to just between med and high. Had to crank it to full high to achieve 240. So I say the provided gauge is way off. overall, I think it's a good value and it's appearance pleasant. Ordered a cover for it from Amazon and you can see it in pic.
