  • Engaging and Engrossing

While the book does describe a number of the deaths that occurred on Doria dives, it is a completely engaging and engrossing narrative. You really gain a look into the wreck, the folks regularly diving it, the excitement of penetrating and finding artifacts, and the very real dangers the whole affair encompasses. Deep, cold water diving is not for amateurs or those not totally focused on the tasks. While tragic, each incident helps demonstrate that even highly experienced and completely capable divers can have things go bad, and how quickly they go from bad to worse. As an avid diver, I couldn't put the book down. Having read other books about diving the Doria, I was familiar with many of the folks in Deep Descent, but this added a whole new view into what it takes to get out there, ...

  • Interesting book on the the hazards of deep sea diving.

The book informed me of the continuing tragedies diving on the once great luxury liner. The author made personal accounts of each diver and their short comings leading to their demise and referenced the advancement of deep sea diving today. He concludes with an update on fellow divers and dive boat captains. Enjoyed how the author made a time line of the tragedies into an interesting story.

  • This book is only for the thrill seekers who fantasize about being in Doria

Excellent book, nice pictures of the dead divers. I love the thrills of diving into unknown and dangerous places and thus i liked this book a lot.
