Whether you love Harry Potter or really, really hate him, you'll laugh out loud at this book. The Harry Potter series gets the South Park treatment here. Barry Trotter's groupies are camped out on the lawn at Hogwash School, making nuisances of themselves. It's up to Barry to stop the release of a movie about his life, which will attract more unwanted attention to the wizardry school. If he fails, 22-year-old Barry will be kicked out of Hogwash's and forced to get a real job. There are references to smoking, drinking, stealing, sex, and various unpleasant bodily functions, but the writing is so cheerfully tongue-in-cheek that older teens and adults familiar with Harry Potter can't help chuckling at Barry.
As a huge fan of the Harry Potter books I was drawn to this one. I'm glad I ordered it. It's very cleverly written and ties in well with JK Rowlings works. It was advertised as being a great book for kids...maybe not. At least not for young children. There are quite a few questionable references that are more suited for older teens and older. I look forward to reading more books by Michael Gerber. He's got alot of talent...and may need therapy...but a very good writer.
I loved the series snd was looking forward to the parody. It's terrible. Don't bother.
