this scanner is fully supported in Linux (using the Plustek sane backend), unlike many Canon scanners. quality of images is great, with automatic image cleanup and color balance. full resolution scans are a little slow, but this is more than compensated for by not having to connect a separate power supply... the scanner is USB powered. 300 dpi greyscale scans are quick. the plastic case and hinges are well made and durable, and the scanner is compact and light. it fits in a 17" widescreen laptop case perfectly. no complaints about this product, good job Canon.
I am restarting my graphic art business on the east coast and online--this scanner has been an excellent tool for helping build my web site. I used to use the LIDE20 but I figured a little bit of an upgrade would be nice. It has been indispensable in my work the image quality is excellent and stands up to frequent use and light abuse. I have to take multiple scans of some of my larger creations that are bigger than the dimensions of the scanning bed but I have no problems with pasting them together in Gimp if need be. After finding the software online for my Mac the rest was easy and the hardware is not too difficult to clean since it has to put up with the occasional chalk & charcoal dust, paints and other artists hazards to electronic equipment. I am glad I won the bid, but I am not having any luck trying to pay for it. With only one option to use to pay for it (PayPal) it is difficult to change the credit card information to a new cards (the one listed is no longer being used) and when I try to use another card, the computer won't let me choose the Card Type. All of the information has been enterd correctly several times but the Card Type can't be activated. Do you have any suggestions? I won't give my card over the internet, except through PayPal, so now what do I do? Albert Roberts robertswj@comcast.net
Really nice scanner that takes care of everything the average user would want. Doesn't have a lot of features, but you don't need them. The scans are fast enough and the interface works very well. I use mine on XP and it performs flawlessly. I'd highly recommend for home and light business use, especially as a traveling partner.
Great scanner and easy to used..i would recommend this canon brand.and also can send a email instead faxing it.its get there faster.
