About this product

Product Information

Four members of the elite Blast Corps face their most perilous operation yet: two nuclear missiles have started to leak while en route to a safe detonation site. The carrier supporting them has suffered heavy damage, and in order to reach its destination as quickly as possible, it has been programmed to follow the most direct path through populated areas. Your goal is to use every vehicle at your disposal to clear a path for the carrier so it makes it through unscathed. The slightest impact will have catastrophic results, so you need to work fast by demolishing buildings and removing any potential obstacles. You must also be on the lookout for six hidden scientists who can disarm the weapons.

Fifteen vehicles are at your disposal, some of which are needed simply to reach others on a particular stage. The "Ramdozer" is designed similarly to a bulldozer, and the "Backlash" is modeled after a dump truck. The "Skyfall" resembles a dune buggy, while the "Thunderfist" is a large robot with an enormous hand for bashing. The "Cyclone Suit" is used to tumble into structures, the "J-Bomb" is a flying robot that stomps on buildings, and the "Ballista" is a futuristic cycle with twin missile launchers. There's also the "Sideswipe," a truck with two powerful panels on either side to crush objects. More traditional offerings include a van, police car, train, and boat.

Players will be able to unlock 57 levels from a 3D map of the world. In addition to completing the main carrier missions, there are also four medals (platinum, gold, silver, and bronze) to earn by finding communication points, destroying all buildings, rescuing survivors, locating RDUs, and finishing levels within certain time limits. At the end of each stage, players will receive score breakdown and ranking. They can then start a new level or revisit a cleared stage to improve their performance. While accumulated medals are saved directly to cartridge, a Controller Pak with at least 14 free pages is needed to store additional statistics or save files. Blast Corps is developer Rare's second release on Nintendo 64, after Killer Instinct: Gold.

    Old School fun

Was one of my favorite games to play as a kid. Still a ton of fun for the N64.

  • Blast Corps

Back in 1997, Blast Corps served as an important reminder that not every game had to be a sequel to an existing franchise to pack mass appeal. Put together by British second-party developer Rare, Blast Corps is almost like a nostalgic trip back to the heydays of the NES or the time of Robotron and Missile Command. The game puts players behind the controls of current and futuristic destruction machinery with the objective of clearing a path for an out-of-control nuclear missile carrier. Released to very little media hype, Blast Corps quickly won the hearts of N64 owners by offering a well-rounded combination of destructive gameplay and intelligent puzzles, topped off with a rocking soundtrack and good graphics.

  • An amazing underrated game for the Nintendo 64

Created by a company in Europe called Rareware (better known as just Rare today) was known to produce hit after hit video games during the Nintendo 64’s life cycle. Rareware was responsible for many great video games in the past such as Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, Goldeneye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, and Conkers Bad Fur Day on the Nintendo 64. Right before Rareware developed Goldeneye, Rareware had created Blast Corps. The Plot The plot is simple: a nuclear truck carrying 2 missiles has started to leak. The leak causes the carrier to lock onto a destination site for a controlled explosion. The problem however, is the carrier only drives to its destination via a straight path, any impact or rupture to the vehicle will cause the carrier to explode. Your mission as part of the “Blast Corps” ...

  • Blast Corps... A very inovative game for its time...

I remember playing this when it first came out, and becoming addicted instantly. A game that pulls you in, because of its new concepts and challenges for you to beat. I would have to say, the only problem with this game, is its replay value though. After you beat it once, you don't really wanna play it again for awhile. It usually takes me a good year or so before I've forgotten a lot about it, and want to play it again. Other then the lack of replay value, a highly recommendable experience for the Nintendo 64, if you enjoy destroying things as a giant robot! Watching explosions and a giant robot act like a wrecking ball, is only so enjoyable though...

  • One of the 64's best.

This game has a pretty cheezy plot, but it's playability is through the roof. Basically, you use various types of vehicles to destroy buildings before a truck with some nukes crashes into them and explodes. It's really easy to get into, the controls and graphics are great. A must have for anyone who owns the Nintendo 64. ez, Scott.
