Although reportedly difficult to install -even by professional plumbers- I only took this as a challenge. The faucet installation was the toughest part of the job because I bought the kit "open box" and was missing the special cutout washer. I improvised with some old sink parts and other plumbing items from the home center (I was also missing the brass tee, o-ring, and saddle valve gasket. I read others had multiple leaks after installing. Since mine had already been installed, I certainly got to share in that joy. The thing is, you have to remember there are around a dozen connections, so the likelihood that one of them will leak is high. The frustration factor is compounded by the fact that you have to wait an hour or so for the system to pressurize before the first leak (weakest link) develops. Then you have to wait again for the next leak, and so on. The hose ends have to be smooth and cut square. The compression fittings can be tricky to comprehend for a newbie. You need to understand the difference between an o-ring seal, a pipe thread seal (with Teflon tape) and a compression seal. The end-result of my plumbing adventure was the reward of the freshest, purest, tasty water I ever had! Oh, the system has to be purged too. I did not run it for 24 hours though, I let it trickle over night in case more leaks developed, and then just emptied the tank once. The water was cloudy for one burp moment and then it cleared up.Read full review

The only gripe I have is that the filters cost as much as a new system.
