Great camera I took underwater pics with SHARKS AWESOME
I bought this camera because my previous camera was attack by the sands of the afghan desert...and finally met its end while i was in iraq. I pick this puppy up after hours of research and I must say this camera did everything and more! Dustproof, rain proof, and just recently truly underwater proof! I took some pictures while I was in Hawaii, when a group of use when swimming with the sharks! I will say i could tell you how deep this camera will go, but I will say I had a few great shots of an extremely memorial part of my life! Sadly after three years...this camera met its end... (I sat on it while at the club after a few shots of tequila...) and crack the screen. It still works mind you, but without a eye port to see what your clicking at, your just taking pictures in the dark... my ... Time-lapse feature.
This is an old camera but it is useful because it has a time-lapse feature. It will take sharp 7 megapixel photos at intervals as short as 10 seconds. I know of no recent-model camera under $200 that can compare. The "Game and Trail" cameras that sell for $50 to $200 produce lousy quality photos, partly because they don't auto-focus and therefore must rely on fixed focus, and partly because they have poor lenses and imaging software. As far as I'm concerned, this Pentax, and its cousins in the W series, are now valuable little gems because of the time-lapse feature.This is an old camera but it is useful because it has a time-lapse feature. What more can you ask from a camera. At first I was afraid to use it in water. I know you´re not supposed to use it in salt water.. I took it to a trip to Galapagos Islands and the underwater pics are great, I obviously rinsed it with drinking water. You get it dirty- you just "wash it". I also used it in a friend´s swimming pool, everyone wanted to buy one. And the great thing is that its very user friendly, numerous functions and settings. You cant go wrong with Pentax WP. I also own the model before this one, 5mp- works perfectly.. just some scracthes. Highly recomended.What more can you ask from a camera. At first I was afraid to use it in water. I needed a waterproof, digital camera for an upcoming raft trip, and Pentax offered the only ones I could find. Also, my rafting partner has an Optio W10 that he is very satisfied with. So far, I have found the camera easy to use, although it has features beyond what I will likely ever use (movie and voice capabilities). The best photo and video quality you will find in a camera. I love that it is a camera i can take to the beach and not worry about sand or water getting in. The many features available with the camera are great. It is also user friendly and very compact. The Pentax Optio W80 7.0 is worth every cent I payed for it. I shopped for 3 months and reasearched alot of cameras before I made my decision. I love the camera so much I purchased 2 more for christmas gifts.The best photo and video quality you will find in a camera.
