A revamped version on the 2008 synthesizer simulation, Korg DS-10 Synthesizer Plus gives aspiring beat-makers more options to create and mix their own unique songs. As in the original game, players can choose from pre-set templates or create their own synth and drum lines by using the onscreen keyboard, drum pads, and 16-step sequencer. Synthesizer Plus also allows custom track modulation, track mutes, and parameter edits in real-time, and post-production options such as a full-featured mixer, pattern chaining, and multiple effects are once again available for added polish. DSi owners get even more features, as options for the drum machine (one-part to two-part), the analog synth simulator (two-part to four-part), and the number of simultaneous sounds (six to twelve) all double. And just as in the original version, wireless gamers can once again link as many as eight DS units together for multiplayer ensemble performances in which each game acts as a single instrument, and players can also exchange songs and session data with one another.

Good if you love to make music
I bought it just for an experiment and I actually enjoyed to play the game. I use it on my 2ds XL. The learning process was straight forward, it helped me to understand more things from old synthesizers. I found other games like this, more modern but they are in Japanese so it feels a little hard to understand what to do. There are also tutorials available on YouTube, but you don't really need them unless there is something you want to create something very advanced.I bought it just for an experiment and I actually enjoyed to play the game. ~Portable Synthesis~
Portable Synthesis!!! EASY TO USE! I recieved my DS-10+ a few hours ago & I've already learned my way around the entire system. Granted, I've had many years experience with synthesizers & recording equipment, so I don't expect absolute beginners to master it THAT quickly, but it's very intuitive to navigate, & everything is spread out very logically, so beginners shouldn't have too much trouble finding their way around. Once you do, you'll find it a pleasure to use. PORTABILITY! I'm not really a gamer...I actually bought the DSi system specifically for this synthesizer to use as a portable compositional tool. I spend about 3 hours a day on the bus, so I have a lot of wasted time. With this in my bag though, I can continue to be creative on the go & create music to use later in my main ... Portable Synthesis!!! EASY TO USE! I recieved my DS-10+ a few hours ago & I've already learned my way around the entire system. Having said that, I'll have to actually sample the DS-10+ through the headphone out of the DSi into my studio sampler or recorder if I want to use patterns/sounds I've created with the DS-10+ in my "pro" studio. You can't transfer "files" to your other equipment...you have to actually record it. Not really a big deal. The main reason I got it was portability. The synth itself is actually VERY good. There are lots of "knobs" to tweak, so you probably won't get board with it anytime soon. It's "analog modelled" synthesis, meaning that you can come up with great sounds for industrial, techno, or any type of electronic music. You're not stuck with a limited set of cheesy samples. People who have the DSi can utilize more functions than those who have a DS or DSlite. 4 synths instead of 2 etc...& the built in KAOSS PAD is really nice!!! The only area that I have a REAL problem with is the limited memory. There are only 18 memory locations to store your work, which means that you'll have to delete older work after you fill the memory slots up (which will happen VERY quickly) IF you want to continue to make new music. Why you can't save your work onto an SD card(on the DSi)to free up the internal game memory is beyond me. That's such a waste of the DSi's SD card slot. LAME!!! All in all, I'm happy with it. It's a genuine synthesizer with a lot of potential, even for "professional" musicians. For budding musician's, you get a synth that works very much like a keyboard synthesizer or computer synth. If you can create music with the DS-10+, you will be able to take that knowledge with you & apply it in a "Real" studio. Highly recommended at the $20 price I paid for it...& that includes shipping!

Basically, with this synthesizer, the idea I got going with is to: 1)set-up a beat to play a rhythm... 2)find a tune with the keyboard, while the rhythm is going at the speed you set-up... 3) change the vibe you want to get by changing the options... 3b) you could set-up more than rhythm, but so-far I have been happy with quick 5minute beat/tune sessions, then call it a day. I don't know how to record yet, but I have computer audio recording software. You can go with headphone-to-headphone to a computer, then play your beat and record live sessions to the computer audio software. Then adding other instruments or vocals is possible and that would be when you could start sounding like the cover suggests: a one-person sound studio and orchestra, band, or MC. Something to consider is the ... Something to consider is the keyboard gets a fixed range of sound that you could scribble, by adjusting the mixer options and switches. To do that, just configure the keyboard to play a range of presets, then play those with the switchboard open and flip the switches until the tone set sounds like something you would want To-seek-tune-by, since the high-pitch or low-pitch range option To-find the tune you desire at the particular beat is limited to pitch after you leave the synthesizer-switchboard. Expectations might vary depending on the beats per minute preset, but I haven't explored that far with the software, since the beginner experience I am starting with kind of requires me to turn-off the software after short sessions. Some of the switches have noticeable effects, but other ones would require manual use or previous experience, since I can't seem to hear the difference. Without finding a setup for sound you want to work with, within a reasonable amount of time, the beat playback could get very repetitive before much time, so you need a tolerance for repetitive or undesirable digital noise during some adjustments.

For those experienced synth musicians and music composers out there; you will certainly be aware of the fabulous KORG "ELECTRIBES"... Well, this KORG DS-10 PLUS is nothing but an enhanced version of the first "MUSIC PRODUCTION STATION" available in the late 90's, early 2000's. I'm still starting to know the product, but it surely has a lot of features. As far as I have been playing, it brings hihgly customizable analog synthesizer modules and drum machine modules, with 4 different oscillators; which can be mixed and filtered with many different effects. For beginners, it might be quite "intimidating", as there are so many different ways to achieve sounds and the User Interface is yet, challenging, but amazingly easy and intuitive to use. A phenomenally powerful synthesizer. Or group of synthesizers. On a DSi it can be four MS-10s simultaneously, each with its own Kaoss Pad audio modulator. All settings are programmable in the arpeggiator and the sequencer. New instrument sounds can be created and stored. It gives you all the dials and even the cable patches of the original. It may or may not sound exactly like an MS-10, I haven't had the opportunity to use one of them. But it sounds darn good. There are five screens for each synth, keyboard, sequence, dials, patches and Kaoss pad. There is a six part EQ on each of two sections, with two sliders for synth and four for percussion, for a total of four synth and eight percussion controls. Percussion windows gives you four pads with completely editable sound. You can ... A phenomenally powerful synthesizer. Or group of synthesizers. The only real bother is using stylus taps or the buttons to swap screens all the time. My one gripe with the DSi XL is that only the lower screen is touch sensitive. I'd have been willing to pay more for two touch screens. I haven't tried transfering song data to a computer sequencer but it should be possible via the SD card (2GB or more.) The dials are a bit tiny, like the ones on some VST computer synthesizer simulations, but on the DSI they are not quite as accurate as the ones you find in a computer using a mouse. It will require great patience to sometimes find that exact spot for the sound you are looking to create. I am trying to create a flute sound and am very close after three weeks of working for a few minutes a day (using it during my breaks at work--another benefit, this is a synthesizer/sequencer that you can carry in your pocket and have up and running within seconds.) I found one flute patch on line but it isn't as good as I want. I think it is possible to create any sound that you can imagine with this little tool, given enough patience and battery power. The little speakers can be surprisingly loud and clear. I would recommend a decent set of ear buds for private listening. I'm sure that listening to the same sequence over and over again while making tiny adjustments to sound may be stimulating to the programmer's fevered attention, but it would probably drive those nearby to distraction and possibly summon a sudden inrush of thrown objects and shouts of "Will you shut that down!" I recommend Skullcandy ear buds, as they have the most incredible bass, but make sure to mark them, as for some queer reason they have not marked left from right, at least on the ones I bought years ago. All in all, if you have a DS, and in particular a DSi XL for access to four synthesizers in large screens, the DS-10 is a fantastic bargain. If you don't have a DS, this is the best excuse to buy one now. I am going to be getting the DS-10's big brother the M01 as soon as I can. The M01 was created by the same programmers and emulates the Korg M1, the best selling synthesizer in history. Unfortunately, the M01 is only available direct from off-sellers in Japan. Again, worth every penny. If you make music and your hands itch for a keyboard especially when you can't be near one, a DSi in your pocket with XSeed's Korg DS-10 will slake your thirst and leave you with waves of sonic satisfaction. Worth every penny. I can't emphasize it enough.
