About this product

Product Information

This computer-animated feature continues the story of Deunan Knute, a woman warrior whisked away from the ruined battleground where she lives to a distant city in which mankind seems to have put its destructive past behind it. The utopia of Olympus is maintained by the Bioroids, artificial people whose emotional capabilities are diminished in order to balance the careening passions of regular human beings. As a member of ESWAT, Deunan finds herself threatened by cyborg terrorism, a surprise attack on Olympus, and the appearance of Tereus, a human doppelganger for her cyborg lover and partner Briareos. Based on an early manga by Masamume Shirow, also the author of GHOST IN THE SHELL, APPLESEED explores similar themes as Shirow's masterwork while still containing the action sequences audiences expect from his offerings.

  • Appleseed: Ex Machina

I havent' watched anime in years, but when I saw the trailer for it I knew I had to get it. The animation is top notch. I'm an artist myself and was just blown away how old school animation was melded together with next gen computer graphics. IMHO, it gave animation new life and a touch that even non-anime enthusiasts can enjoy. Everything was clean, refined and finished. The storyline isn't something out of the ordinary for anime because we all know that in anime, anything is possible. I say if the story doesn't keep you interested, the animation definitely will. This movie is truly a breakthrough for future anime features to come.

  • Awesome but mindless

This is the last of the HD-DVD's and it is rare but it is an excellent HD experience, but it has a mindless plot - an exemplar of the mindless "comic book" genre - which was - one would assume, only for its thrill value and graphics. It is worth the watching and the reviewing but no Pulitzer prize here.
