    Great book will likely be a great movie!

    I would have never picked up this book to read, except I know someone who's going to be in the upcoming movie by the same name. I am not a football fan at all, but the story sounded interesting, and, once I began reading it, I could hardly put the book down! The author is an excellent writer and really draws the reader into the story and the lives of the characters. It is a true story that involves immeasurable perseverance in the face of almost certain failure, but there are many surprises along the way and the reader cannot help but cheer for the "twelve mighty orphans." A truly great story and very highly recommended, even for those who know nothing about football.

    Strong book!

    I know of the story first-hand, as my mother was a classmate and good friend of Hardy Brown. He seemed larger than life, as did all the Mighty Mites, but the story was real. As other underdogs, such as Seabiscuit, held the country's attention during the 30's and 40's, so did the boys who fought each other and then fought together to create a legend. The book holds your attention, with gritty football and tender love stories. Some of the details are a bit off, but the compelling story is there, and it will be hard to put down.
