  • A Dalliance with Wolves

    In my review of Twilight, I said that the book had more in common with "Catcher in the Rye" and "Pride and Prejudice" than it did with any vampire novels or stories. That still holds true, although be certain: I'm not comparing Twilight or New Moon to these books in terms of literary quality. There are few that match either. In New Moon we miss the vampires for most of the story, and Bella spends time with her friend Jacob, an Indian fated with becoming a werewolf, and fated to hate all "bloodsuckers", regardless of whether or not the bloodsuckers took human lives. (Btw, that little bit is cleared up at the end...what exactly their treaty entails. It's interesting, kind of, but I have to wonder if the author thought of it as the story was being written, and that it wasn't planned when the ...

  • It's not just for teens!

    At 39, I thought I had moved on to more "in depth" novels---that's until my daughter brought home the Twilite Series. I started reading shamelessly like I was 17 again! I enjoyed all the books, but out of all of them (so far!) Eclipse was the most satisfying. These books bring to life a genre that has been beaten with a stick---and it comes out looking like a rose. Eclipse is exciting, and leaves you wanting more. I for one, am impatiently waiting for the next book in the series. While I'm waiting, you need to buy this book. It takes you into a dream-like world, with well fleshed-out characters that draw you in tightly. It's a tightly-crafted book of depth and character---and best of all, it's rollicking good fun!

  • Eclipse, the continuing Twilight Saga

    Since I wanted to read Twilight before I saw the movie, I decided that I might as well read the entire series!! Again, this was an easy read (still at home sick in bed) and I finished in 1 day. I wanted it to go on and on. Good for Edward being old fashioned. It was interesting to hear the Cullen family stories of back when they were human (Oh Rosalie). I love any stories about vampires and love the romance in this. It makes me want to be a teenager again and maybe a vampire as well? Read it to become closer to your own daughter, it would make for some great conversation!
