EC2 SST Clear
I ordered these to get a bit fuller sound on my Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute drums, and was pleasantly surprised to find they were even better sounding than the previous generation EC2 heads. Great warmth, sustain and tunability. Very musical sounding, microphones love them, and they even look great! Some of the best heads I've ever played in my 45+ years of being a drummer! Poor design
These heads work fine on smaller size( 10" to 6")but,on 12" or larger,they fall short on tone and response-It actually sounded like you were playing on well used heads that are near the end of their useful life. The problem is the collar is pre-tensioned,which prevents proper tuning in the larger drum sizes-essentially choking the low end tuning range. Switched to Remo Emperors-Tone,response and tuning range are way ahead of the Evans.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
