Luxury and great sound
The B&W P5 headphone is audiophile quality. Even once the first time i got it that sound seems flat and no prominent frequency range as same as when i tried at the headphone store,but after burned about 50 hrs with varieties of music its can produce the high-range of sound dynamic. Now i love it sound, there are bass style as i like (not much bass as beat solo) and a good sound stage (separate of vocal and music equipment) base on iPhone music app. I thought that it can be better if you use Flac payer to play a high-rise bitrate music. The only one that i dislike it is the headphone cable, there are small jack inside the earphone which quite difficult to make a DIY audio cable. And it also small and seem not to be strong, it would be easily damage if you not plug it out carefully.The B&W P5 headphone is audiophile quality. Don`t mind the nay sayers, these headphones are great! And they sound great
For $300.00 one expects a great set of headphones ...and these deliver in spades. Before buying the P5s I did read a lot of reviews on them, even on snobby stereo connoisseur sites with many of the reviews there not having much good to say about them. They say detracting things like 'they color the sound' to 'they don`t have the airyness in the top end of open back phones'. Well guess what? They`re not open back phones! I love great sounding high quality stereos and HiFi gear and these phones sound fantastic. They fit snugly on your ears (which does take a bit getting used to)- but they are comfortable. Feels like they make a seal over your ears so that helps bass response as well as provide sound isolation. These aren`t 'noise cancelling', but I for one would want my top phones to NOT ... If your cranking the volume, of course that would cover up outside noises anyway. These phones sound great to me. Plenty of bass without being overbearing or like some phones (Monster Beats for one)- have the bottom end favored or tuned for boosted bass. In fact I turned up some dance music which is produced in a studio very well, and these phones surprised me with the bottom end. Compared to my old phones, these sounded like they had a subwoofer for the lows as they were bumping! So the bass is covered fine. Plenty of tight low end without being exaggerated or sloppy sounding. The mids and highs (unlike some of the stereo reviewers said)- are there too of course. To my ears they sound fine. Sounds like the singer is singing to you, very realistic and smooth. The highs are there but are not shrill or overbearing. Basically like B&Ws pamphlet says, they designed these to sound like the producer/engineer mixed the band/artist in the studio. And to that end I`d agree, these sound close to studio monitors (granted they don`t have dedicated tweeters). Since they are of a sealed design, they do give the impression that the sound is directly in your head. Some may or may not like that. Some may like their sound to be more airy/open sounding or have some space dimension. These are very direct sounding. I love them just the way they are, they`re great. Build quality for these headphones is second to none. No plastic used on these! Seems most every other headphone I`ve seen is predominantly made of plastic. Not to say that they can`t be made that way, it`s just that plastic can crack and your phones could be ruined. I`m old school in my thinking that things were made better and stronger years gone by, and that plastic things are well ...cheap, or cheaply made. The P5s are built for the long haul I feel. High quality materials and workmanship. Chromed steel, anodized aluminum, high quality New Zealand sheep leather for the ear and headpads. Memoryfoam for cushion. They have a retro yet modern style/look to them. Some may like the look or not, but either way they scream high quality when you see them, or better yet when you handle them. They don`t feel cheap or flimsy. And wait till you hear them. My singer for my band put them on and I put on a song; The moment the song kicked in she said "wow these sound GOOD"! She was in her own musical heaven seemed like. Maybe she never heard a great pair of headphones before? The cable is a bit thin, but seems to be sturdy enough. And it is replaceable. You take off the magnetic pad to change it. Anyway~

Cloud Fantasy: The Best Headphones
Finally my winner for best $300 headphones are the B&W P5’s, the Bowers Wilkins P5’s for those who don’t name drop B&W P5’s in conversation. I really don’t know where to start, is it the visuals, the good looks, the engineering, the sleek sexy body (just look at it), the touch, yeah, that’s the finest quality New Zealand sheep’s leather which is remarkably soft and supple, the killer patch work bag it comes in with magnets to close and even a special spot to put your music player, or is it the only reason you should buy a pair of headphones, the sound? For those of you that are hell-bent on Noise Cancellation the B&W P5’s aren’t Noise Cancelling headphones like Bose but rather Noise-Isolating headphones basically there is no stupid made up Bose noise which is technically called Active ... For those of you that are hell-bent on Noise Cancellation the B&W P5’s aren’t Noise Cancelling headphones like Bose but rather Noise-Isolating headphones basically there is no stupid made up Bose noise which is technically called Active Noise Cancelling but rather Passive Noise Cancelling, meaning no made up stupid sounds just pure sound. As B&W will tell you there is, “a closed-back design with rigid metal faceplates and sealed earpads ensures that all the detail and dynamic range of your music is kept intact, while preserving just enough ambient sound to give you a sense of place”. Best headphones on the planet
I purchased these headphones to replace a pair of bose ones. I heard about these online and read excellent reviews. I feel that the sound quality is better than bose and I have been a big bose fan for quite a while. I still like bose but I wanted to best pair of headphones I could get. B&W has a strong reputation for high sound quality. The two things that I dont like about these is that they are an on-ear style and not an around ear style. They are also non-noise cancelling. I have tried noise cancelling headphones and I love them too. For me, they fit a bit tight and becasue I wear glasses they pinch between my ear and skull. For the non-glasses wearers I am sure that they are fine. I have never heard music this good from a pair of headphones before.I purchased these headphones to replace a pair of bose ones. Quality product
These headphones are top notch. Clear sound, in particular the low end frequencies. IF you are looking for sound with clear cutting high end, these might not be your ideal pair. They have a good frequency balance but I would definitely say they lean moer towards the low end of the spectrum in frequencies. Great isolation. Serves as good noise canceling headphones.
