Apple used old school better than equal price new school!

Very happy with overall quality of the MacBook Pro. my wifes computer is newer than mine but she has battery problems! I don't! My keyboard lights up, the track pad is bar none the most responsive that I have ever used, she is literally getting carpal tunnel from all the had clicking and scrolling she does on her computer. Buy a Mac!! I will never own anything else from this point forward. You do need to set up for light tap on track pad in setting. This is small thing that is really a big thing for people truly using their computer all day.

    Something is Wrong

The laptop shuts down immediately every time it gets unplugged, the mouse pad is slow to respond, and the computer itself is extremely slow. Pages don't respond and they take forever to load. Even doing things offline is frustrating. The clock resets itself to the wrong time when I start up the laptop every time. I'm a bit disappointed but I'm going to find a way to fix it hopefully.

  • Great design in a great product!

When seeking out a robust laptop that was family tough, I saw the MacBook Pro as the best value. Sure it cost more up front, but I value my time and sanity more than the minor cost difference between it and a comparable Windows laptop. From a hardware perspective, simple things like the chassis being a heat sink instead of using a fan to cool the processor and the power cord being held on by a magnet are awesome. Both mean that I have two less failure modes to worry about. No more animal fur in the cooling fan or power cords wrapping around peoples ankles and crashing the laptop to the ground. The backlit keyboard is also amazing as it means we can use the laptop in low-light situations and still be able to find the keys. These are small design features but each one adds to my peace ...

  • Pleasantly Surprised

This is my first mac notebook. I bought a mac mini last year and just love it. I ended up hooking it to the television as a home theater PC and found myself in need of a computer at times when the mac mini was acting as TV. I was upgrading from a 2004 dell laptop to this and I'm just noticing some things that I'd like to point out if you have never had a mac laptop. Built in webcam that acts as an ambient light sensor when it gets brighter/darker in the room. Backlit keys. Touchpad/trackpad gestures that can be real time savers compared to a full keyboard (& i am a keyboard fanatic) I have not messed with it yet, but I think you can talk to a macbook too and it will launch applications or do things (my friends do that) The magsafe power adapter is like a magnet ...

  • Good. If you do not upgrade the OS

It looks like apple is trying to fry older systems through their latest OS X Sierra and updates. It fried my original system and so I bought this one from eBay with El Capitan, it runs cool as i refuse to update it. There is a significant increase in temperature of the logic board after installing OS X Sierra. Earlier I couldn't keep my LAPtop on my lap but now with an older OS, I can, without getting burned. Maybe apple need more buyers for their new systems. I have similar experience with my Gen 2 iPads, which after every update, the system went slow and sluggish. On the other hand, Microsoft is doing the same thing to raise their sales for their new surface series books. Just take a look at the reviews of computers manufactured by HP, Asus, Toshiba etc, most of them have issues with ...
