    Perfect for old bikes

    If you're one of us rare remaining cyclists who prefer downtube shifters on an older frame this is a necessary part. These used to be common but are now quite difficult to find at times. This boss fits frames that have a flattened mounting extension below the post. (most frames now are a rounded profile there) I put these on a very old but cherished Kestrel 200SC carbon frame recently beneath 9 speed Dura Ace downtube shifters. Perfect finishing touch. BTW these are not cheesy plastic but instead a durable metal, possibly stainless steel i am not sure but they are quite sturdy and not likely to crack if overtightened accidentally. I may buy some spares just because these are so hard to find anymore.
