Every song is a keeper...Often you have your favorites on an album and after numerous plays you might skip to a better song. This cd is solid with great instrumentals, lyrics and vocals!

This CD turned me on to the talent (and tragedy) of Amy Winehouse. The second of only two studio albums from this member of the "27 Club." Like the others, I can only wonder how her talent would evolve had she lived many more years. RIP Amy

Marched to her own drum beat, too talented, often terrific lyrics. The band is easy listening, makes it a wonderful album. Older style R&B - so mellow.

RIP Amy, great smokey voice. I was skeptical at first but appreciate her work in such a short time. Amazing that talented people can't embrace the gift given to them without being miserable in life. The old phrase a gift and a curse.

Amy was an unique talent who was taken from us way too soon. Her phrasing was very original. Unfortunately for Amy, she gravitated to a loser of a boyfriend Blake who introduced her to hard drugs and had a Father who was only interested in riding the gravy train when he should have been concerned with his daughter's health. He discouraged her from going to rehab and was aware of her bulimic behavior. The paparazzi hounded her once she became famous and had her issues with drugs and alcohol.

I don't listen to old school rhythm and blues, but because Amy was so young and popular and I randomly hear her music everywhere, I just had to give her a try. Surprisingly, I actually like the album and love some of the songs. I truly wish she had gone to rehad, then maybe she'd still be making good music like this.

Amy Winehouse has a voice that can only be described as sultry. Her voice is reminiscent of Billie Holiday, Lauryn Hall and Ella Fitzgerald. Back to Black is Amy's sophomore album following her successful first album, Frank. Amy Winehouse has got one of the best R&B voices around. The lyrics on this album are based on Amy Winehouse's life experiences. The album starts off with the catchy song, Rehab. I guess this is Amy's response to her former record labels attempt to get her to enter rehab. Anyway, the lyrics and rhythm of this song is infectious. You'll be singing this tune in your head for hours. There are two versions of this album available, one with explicit lyrics and the second version is cleaned up for those of you that are uncomfortable with explicit language. If you want to catch a rising star, then you should hurry up and buy this album. Amy Winehouse is destined to be one of the great contemporary R&B singers. So long as she doesn't burn herself out. I highly recommend this album for anyone that enjoys great female R&B music!Read full review

I bought this cd because some of my relatives had never heard "Rehab." The cd has the two singles that were released. Some of the songs, in my opinion sound like they originated from the 50's. Probably because that's her specialty. My favorite is the title track, "Back to Black." The message may be sad, but the rhythm and melody is beautiful. Maybe by now my relatives have heard, "Rehab"!!! The only bad thing would be the language. But one could choose to get the clean version.
