  • Every photographer should own one of these

You should do some homework to figure out which of the 5 generations of this lens you'll be getting. It is smooth, crisp, and very well suited to a mirrorless digital camera (with the appropriate converter). My 2nd-generation lens (Tokina-built; serial number starts with 77) is very lightweight and the one-handed zoom/focus action is extremely smooth. It's crisp and sharpens up at higher f-stops. Other people have written much more comprehensive reviews than I can put in here. Bottom line, this was everybody wanted in the 1970s-1990s and there was a good reason for that. It's fast, light, and handles well... just like a good sportscar

  • Very nice manual focus lens from the film era

While this lens hails from the bygone film era, with the proper adapter it can be utilized on today's digital SLRs. While a bit heavier than today's modern lenses it isn't awkward to use and I find that the manual focusing mechanism has much greater travel making it easier to zero in on exactly the part of the image you want in focus. It produces pleasing images right out of the camera but in my opinion, it really shines in shooting video.

  • The best 70-200 under $500

I speedboost my glass. All of it. I use a Panasonic GH4 wa Canon FD speedbooster from Roxsen and man oh man does this lens look amazing. I also use a Sony A6500 and Sony A7Rii and this lens bar none has no competition for its price range. Using a speedbooster and getting a 2.0 equivalent aperture is truly amazing on a small camera body like the GH4/A6500. Obviously you're missing those nice features of Canon autofocus or OIS/IS, but honestly with the image this lens puts out, who cares. It's so sharp from 3.5 all the through. And my god the micro contrast is amazing! And the detail this lens captures is unmatched for its focal length/price ratio. I would highly recommend this lens to ANY pro or amateur as an awesome vintage looking and styled lens that produces professional results and has ...

  • Great choice for such a low price

I bought because I want to learn how convenient is the focal length of 70-200 and because it is similar according to Parameters to the 70-200 2.8 (only one step darker in ~ 1.5 times) great comfortable telephoto lens. good macro 1:2. a little soft (for open aperture) on the 210mm but enough for portraits. small XA from F3.5 to F4.5
