About this product

Product Information

A riveting historical narrative of the shocking events surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and the follow-up to mega-bestselling author Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln More than a million readers have thrilled to Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln , the page-turning work of nonfiction about the shocking assassination that changed the course of American history. Now the iconic anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts in gripping detail the brutal murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy--and how a sequence of gunshots on a Dallas afternoon not only killed a beloved president but also sent the nation into the cataclysmic division of the Vietnam War and its culture-changing aftermath. In January 1961, as the Cold War escalates, John F. Kennedy struggles to contain the growth of Communism while he learns the hardships, solitude, and temptations of what it means to be president of the United States. Along the way he acquires a number of formidable enemies, among them Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, and Allen Dulles, director of the Central Intelligence Agency. In addition, powerful elements of organized crime have begun to talk about targeting the president and his brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy. In the midst of a 1963 campaign trip to Texas, Kennedy is gunned down by an erratic young drifter named Lee Harvey Oswald. The former Marine Corps sharpshooter escapes the scene, only to be caught and shot dead while in police custody. The events leading up to the most notorious crime of the twentieth century are almost as shocking as the assassination itself. Killing Kennedy chronicles both the heroism and deceit of Camelot, bringing history to life in ways that will profoundly move the reader. This may well be the most talked about book of the year.

The swan, which was packaged very securely, arrived quickly. The item was as described with plenty of photographs by which to examine it. The seller responded quickly to a question I had about payment, as well as a concern about affixing "Fragile" stickers to the package. Also, the seller included a bill of lading with product description and cost, which most Ebay sellers don't provide.

    Informative and well written

I enjoyed reading the book, and was amazed at the facts that I didn't remember as a young Middle School student of the time. I really enjoy the writing style these two authors use. I am now reading their third book, and I would recomend them all as an informative look back at some of our most historic moments.

  • Top critical review

Book is worth reading if you have interests in history of the 60's.

Interesting book but I don't agree with the conclusion. Don't understand how an educated person can believe that Oswald acted alone in the assassination of JFK. Authors did present interesting background information.

  • A complete whitewash of the Kennedy assassination

Nothing is worse for an assassination researcher then to find readers buying into O'Reilly's nonsense. Folks, Oswald didn't kill Kennedy. He was a patsy. LBJ used the CIA to create regime change in the US just as they had in Iran, Guatemala, the Congo, South Viet Nam and attempted to pull off in Cuba. There's a film of the assassination (Zapruder) that clearly shows the shot which killed Kennedy striking him from the front - not the back. Oswald proved negative for firing a rifle on 11/22/63 (as tested by the FBI). O'Reilly is a tool of the ultra-right CIA. The same people who are bugging Senate Sub-Committees on intelligence (the CIA) were responsible for killing JFK. This book is garbage. If you're truly interested in learning the facts of the 11/22/63 assassination - "Killing ...

  • Black and White Imagery.

I Do remember hearing the news about the Dallas tragedy. I recall Where I was Clearly. The book re-told so much but offered new and fair perspective on a sad and often sensationalized piece of American history. I still have questions, and like most of us, always will. Ties into the revelations of today, with a dim light on the doubt of what we hear as opposed to the reality of what occurred. Offers a ' Magic Bullet' analogy, but still sounds dubious. Popular media obscured the truth behind the Kennedy family but this offers some vague details that are off the pages of most historical accounts of the period. " Watch my Right Hand " .... the left hand is out of the picture again. Still going on.

  • Well Worth Reading

Very well-written, objective, and informative overview of both the presidency and assassination of JFK. Opinions have been polarized for many decades when it comes to the Kennedy family and its occasionally unsavory history, but one thing we should all be able to agree on, especially after reading this book, is that President John F. Kennedy was a man of courage, strength, and perseverance. Highly recommended for anyone even casually interested in the man or his short time in the Oval Office.
