At first look, you really don't understand the purpose of the series..., but if you keep watching, the meanings become clearer and clearer... And it sucks you into the plot with it's well placed cliches. It is definitly a series to awaken the ignorant giants. If you don't know what's going on in this world... still... then you better ask somebody! wake up... this film is all the emotions of societies successes, failures, rejects, unjustices and justices all bottled up in this land of OZ... The land of dream deffered and hopes dashed... but there is hope... It's a great journey... but you can't take it lightly, you have to follow what is being laid down, like it or not... your in the world of OZ. this series is not for the faint hearted, nor the I can't hear no cuss words religious... it's ...

  • Prison drama....

Prison drama. A different storyline and presentation than the usual Wentworth and Screw dramas. Have been seeing how it's going before ordering successive series. Will order series 3 later.

  • Oz season 2

Got hooked on this after watching the season on dvd. It's not out right fantastic but it draws you in. A prison drama set in Oswald state correctional facility and focusing on the special wing known as Emerald city with characters like Beecher, a lawyer who got sent to jail for drunk driving and killing someone but now has been turned into someone's 'prag' by the Ayrian's. Which in turn pushes him bit closer to the edge with some startling results. Season two picks up just after the riot in season one. The inmates of Emerald city are now in general population with the other inmates and tempers are still hot. There are loads for people you'll recognize from other shows such as Law and order, 24, Soprano's, Lost, etc. Is really something quite different and recommended

  • The atrocities continue....

I bought Series Two of Oz after watching the incredibly powerful first series and generally the high standard has been continued. Whilst not quite as neatly wrapped up as Series One which could very easily have stood alone as a thematic dissection and indictment of America's prison system and its brutalising effects on both inmates and guards, it is still of a very high standard and superior to most TV out there. If you're a fan of shows like The Wire (creator David Simon has hailed its importance in allowing him to make the show he wanted to make at HBO) or The Sopranos you should enjoy this, but I'd recommend starting at Series One. Otherwise, you'll never understand the dynamics between characters like Beecher and Schillinger or McManus and The Governor. Be warned: Oz is not for the ...
