*This review was made for the ps3 version, but after trying it out on the 360, there are almost no differences between consoles* Presentation- Very stylish, sharp menus, a big and rich gallery to complete, but it seems to be a little simple. Graphics- Enviroments are bland and dissapointing, however the Mobile Suits look great. The gun effects and swordplay are nice and crisp too. Sound- Sweet music, the voice actors are mediocre, but the sound effects from the gameplay kinda suck. Gameplay- If your a dynasty lover, then its awesome, killing 600 guys has never been so much fun. Lasting Appeal- Theres a ton of stuff to do in this game like many different types of story modes and increasing statistics. Overall- You will love this game if you like to play dynasty warrior themed games. The gameplay is awesome and overall you'll have a great time slashing and bashing through enemies. But, if you don't like to play dynasty warrior themed games, then I would not reccomend this game to you.Read full review
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam takes two very entrenched franchises (Dynasty Warriors, a button-masher centering around the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the various Mobile Suit: Gundam anime series) and creates a game I think Gundam fans have wanted for a while. The Gundam games of the past have been very slow and almost too realistic; they don't mirror the frenetic action of the series. There are no protracted melee fights and there are no field-clearing weapons of mass destruction. In that way they were generally very disappointing. This game offers a lot of that action to fans of the series. Modelled very closely after the Dynasty Warriors games, players choose a pilot (and initially get his or her mobile suit, but later can unlock the ability to use other suits) and level up along with their suit as opponents fall and goals are achieved. Along the way you'll learn new skills which you can mix and match to your playstyle and get items you can socket into your Gundam. These items can have bonuses based on type and the mechanic who built the part, which can give you pretty amazing bonus skills. The down-side is that the gameplay will be very repetetive, especially since you'll need to level all of your pilots (and there are something like 30) to level 30, and all of their suits to level 10. You wade through fields of enemies who aren't particularly aggressive or strong to get to the fun battles of minibosses and other unique Gundams. While those fights can be challenging, you'll find the bulk of your time (maybe 2/3) is killing wave after wave of anonymous low-grade trash suits. Another detractor is the very weak premise of the "original" mode. I found that, as a fan of the various series, I didn't mind how absurd and weak the writing was, because the game (in my experience) centered more around the play than the story. So it was satisfying for me to duel people from other series/times just because it was challenging. Overall, if you enjoy either the Gundam animes or the Dynasty Warriors games you'll enjoy this game. If you dislike either, pass this game up--it doesn't break any revolutionary new ground.Read full review
a Gundam game with a plot. Dynasty Warrior style action. Every Gundam series up to Turn A Gundam. Multiplayer. What more do you need? A great game for gundam fans, DW:G is part strategy, part button-mashing. Hack and slash through hundreds of enemies and fight boss suits. There are just two big cons: gameplay quickly becomes repetitive an dthe camera system is just bad, with inexperienced users easily getting lost.
I loved all the new unlockables like characters and special attacks. The gallery was a good feature too; I enjoyed looking at the robots close up. I had a great time playing both story modes. The best part was choosing many differrent characters to play as. It may be a button-masher, but I recommend this game to all who even remotely like Gundam. It's an Awesome game!
Let me put this out here first, I don't know how non-Gundam fans will like this game. As a fan, though, this game is easily one of my favorite games in my collection. This is THE Gundam experience. The only other Gundam game that can possibly even compare is 'Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs Zeta Gundam' on the PS2. A friend of mine (Who happens to be a Dynasty Warriors fan) also enjoyed playing with me very much, so fans of the Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors series should enjoy it as well. Honestly, if you aren't a fan of Gundam, Dynasty Warriors, or Samurai Warriors, I doubt you're interested in this game anyway. If you're a fan of the last two, you might be interested in picking this up if you like the idea of giant robots (and really, who doesn't)? If you like Gundam, you really ought to get this. If you like all of the above? WHY DON'T YOU HAVE THIS GAME YET?Read full review
