The two peaces that clamp to the seat rails are held in place by groves machined into the top of the seat post and the lower clamp. Over time the groves wear down and can't hold the seat in place. However, replacement seat post are common and cheap. If your seat won't stay were you want it, just replace it and your back on the road. Tom
