The siphone dream g2 is not an android or android clone
I cracked the screen on my old p168c and needed a new phone. I wanted one with wifi so I thought I would try the G2 "clone". The 168 was a nice phone but didn't have wifi. The dream g2 is not an android and even though is comes with google maps, etc. I couldn't get any of them to work. If you try changing the language from Chinese to English on these apps it tells you that the app is not available. The phone itself is very nice. Well built with a good feel and easy to operate. It has a nice touch screen and will run lots of java apps. Battery life is much better than most phones and you get 2 batteries with the phone. The sound through the stereo headphones is not bad for a phone. Where the g2 is lacking is in the reception area. The reception is very bad, and erratic. When in ... At my home I have no bars and "no service". In summery, not a bad phone if you live in a large city and want to use free wifi. If you live in the country it is a crap shoot as to reception. If the reception was as good as it was on my p168 this would be an exceptional phone.

I wouldn't pay $5 for this phone now that I know. I have never had so many complaints about call quality from the person on the other end of the line. The internet doesn't work right, I could never even get it to download my email. By the way, you can only have it check 1 email account. You can set up more than one, but only one can be "active". The GMail app is useless! The keyboard doesn't come up when you tap the login field, so there is no way to log in for GMail. The other Google apps they put on the phone go to the Chinese version, some have the option to use go to English site, some do not. The accelerometer doesn't even work, it only uses landscape mode for pictures and videos. I bought this phone for the sole purpose to be a temporary phone (a couple months max until the ... And as mentioned earlier, the keyboard does not even rotate to landscape, and is tiny, not finger friendly. This is a stylus phone (built-in on the side), not really conducive to touch except for navigating through menus and settings... which I did A LOT trying to make the thing work. Bottom line.. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. My "temporary" phone lasted me a week, now I'm back to my crappy Windows Mobile phone (ATT 8525) until I decide on which REAL Android device to get.

Generic Dream G2 (Unlocked) Phone
This is actually a clone of the real Dream G2 phone. I would accept this as the price was much less, however, the firmware on this phone is not ready for prime time. Let me count the ways: 1) Bluetooth was so weak that I could only get a connection to my motorola earpiece from about 1 foot away. This same device connected to my wife's phone from 30 feet. 2) The e-mail doesn't allow an SSL connection to the pop server. It also only allows you to download 50 messages and then quits. There is a setting for this, but 50 is the highest setting. Clearing the first 50 and downloading the next set doesn't work either. It downloads the first 50 again. The Google mail function shows a logon screen with userid and password entry boxes, but there is no way to enter any data into these ... This is actually a clone of the real Dream G2 phone. I would accept this as the price was much less, however, the firmware on this phone is not ready for prime time. Even then I still have to press the "take" button many times to get a single picture. 5) The calendar will not allow me to set a yearly repeat. This makes it unusable for birthdays and anniversaries. The task function allows me to set a task with an annual reminder, but it doesn't show up in the calendar. 6) When the phone is turned off for a while, and I unlock the keyboard, then I can't lock the keyboard again until I go into Settings- Security and change the keyboard lock (back to the same thing it was already set at). I can then lock the keyboard again.

Dream G2 Sciphone review
The phone is clearly NOT Android based, though its software emulates the system pretty well. I have no problems with bluetooth or wi-fi network connections. Operation is pretty flawless despite the fact that it is so cheap. The only two drawbacks I would account for are: 1. Cannot synchronize the phone with a PC, making contact management quite difficult. 2. Does not support that many extra applications. 3. Camera function is pretty poor. 4. Will not upload all Internet apps. If you can do without these functions then this is a pretty good phone at an excellent price.The phone is clearly NOT Android based, though its software emulates the system pretty well. It is a sleek looking phone with great battery life. The phones interface is supposed to be copied from the google "android" interface. The phone is very slow, and the on-screen keyboard is so small you can't use it without a stylus pen. It is a difficult, and at times, confusing phone. I chose to get it because i looked efficient, and durable. The manual that came with the phone was for the actual Google phone, and was of no help with the Xinrong phone. It seems more like it would be used for a palm pilot than a cell phone. Overall I was disappointed in it.It is a sleek looking phone with great battery life.
