    Sony STR-DG800 7.1

    The Stereo Receiver is a very good amp. Does it sound Good? - is not a question of the amp but the quality of the speakers. There is no hum or distortion through out its volume range. It is not the easiest of receivers to set up. You have to have its manual to fully understand what it can and cannot do. The manual is available online for downloading.  I am very pleased with the amp and would recommend it to you.

    I Expected Better

    This Sony , the first thing you will notice is that it gets very hot ,.. so you can't put anything on top of it . For Me , The Optical input drastically reduced the volume output connected to my TV. I pushed it up to about 50% which is more than I want to before I got that Theater sound . The Bass and treble are almost non existent or respond very poorly which is important if you want to watch a movie and hear crisp tink tink tink sound or thunder. This unit is also very difficult to set up. The manual is 99 pages long and without it , you are lost .. A lot of Presets that include such " Hold this Button for 5 seconds till this pops up then press this . The remote control is Awesome , HUGE almost 1 foot long . Great easy to see controls .powered by 2 AA batteries . Gold ...

    Sony STR DG800 DSGWriter review

    I will preface this by saying that I am no tech guru or audio savant. However, I have owned a number of receivers (Technics) and I have never had the hassle that I have had with this particular Sony receiver. The HDMI cables do not function as designed and there are several forums on-line supporting what I am stating here. The sound quality is good, not exceptional, the subwoofer function is at best complicated and the subwoofer does not work under a number of settings. As a matter of fact, after purchasing Digital Optical cables, HDMI cables and all sorts of RCA cables (for the subwoofer) the sub still does not work. Again, I am no audio expert however, I am also no novice at setting up stereo equipment and this Sony STR DG800 is not the easiest thing to set-up for proper ...

    Geat sound from a Sony?

    I'm pleasantly surprised on how good the sound is coming out of those two home made bookshelves speakers. So much so that I listened to it about 80«5 of the time. And that's saying a lot.

    Awesome Buy

    I couldn't have been any more pleased then what I was when this receiver landed at my doorstep this morning. This Sony by far has to be one of my greatest so far Investments when it comes to my music. The clarity is amazing. The hookups were very easy as well now just taking the time to actually learn how to work it LOL.
