This is and excellent meter. I used one identical to this in the late 90's doing service work. Built by B&K. This meter is actually better, as it has a nice rubber protective boot around the instrument, and it has a 9V adapter socket if you don't care to operate on a battery. I highly recommend this instrument!

Worth a look if you need an ESR tester
GME ESR tester is a reasonable bit of kit. It's fast, accurate, and makes a good addition to my bench for testing electrolytic capacitors. It's super easy to use - turn it on, grab the DUT leads with the tweezers and you're good. For the price, I have but a few faults with it. Construction feels rather 'cheap' overall, with the tweezers weakest link in the unit. They are especially sturdy, but for lite duty work, they should be fine. Just remember to go easy with them. While there is a protective boot around the unit, I would not trust it to protect the tester were it to fall from the bench, so caution is suggested. Lastly GME markets the tester as 'Designed and Engineered' in the USA. It is actually a copy of the EDS-88A CapAnalyzer Series II, which sells for twice the price. The GME ... Good point -Fast -Easy to use -Seems pretty accurate -Accelerate troubleshooting Less good point (but I was aware of before buying it) -I would like to be able to use standard probe from time to time (I will probably modify it in the future to put either BNC or banana jack connector)

Definitely a good product, reliable, and well made.
Fabulous product, wish there were replaceable leads, but, everything is replaceable if you have a need for this product, and perhaps banana leads would bring a new variable into the ESR that would be detrimental. Definitely a good purchase, and the price was resonable.

Another great ESR meter for bench service and electronics troubleshooting.
It is an exact copy of the B&K model 881. The BK 881 and this may be based on the EDS-88A. The difference between this and the EDS-88A being the EDS-88A has a manual DCR adjustment. Other than that they look the same and function the same. Besides the manual DCR adjustment, the price for the BK 881 is around 300+, the EDS-88A is around 350. Pricewise, this has the best price. I own the BK 881 for years. It has been a great piece of test equipment. However, I paid around 180 back in the 90s. The EDS-88A is overprice in my opinion. Their LeakSeeker 89 is also overprice in my humble opinion.It is an exact copy of the B&K model 881. The BK 881 and this may be based on the EDS-88A.
