The Sony CPA-7 just works well
I have two older cars with tape players and I've used tape adapters since Ipods became popular. I've used different brands of cassette adapters over the years. Only the Sony CPA-7 has worked perfectly for me over a long period of time. Other brands I've used work well for a little while then tend to repeatedly stop and reverse direction for no apparent reason or only work in one direction and then finally fail completely. Finally one that works right.

The mechanism is quite, the sound quality is decent, and it does not eject. I use it in my Jag XKR as it does not have an aux input. There are a lot of cheap ones out there, so beware.
