Jump in the ring against nearly 100 opponents in Mike Tyson Boxing for the Game Boy Advance. Four modes of gameplay offer a variety of pugilistic perspectives, ranging from the main event, a World career mode with elements of gym training, to the Showcase mode, where the goal is consolidation of two title belts and weight classes are immaterial. Two players can join systems together via link cable to fight it out in Versus mode, and boxers can be tuned and toned up in Practice mode.
World mode consists of training your pugilist and boxing your way up through the ranks against 72 opponents, 24 in each of three weight classes: light, medium (or middle), and heavyweight. Initially, only two dozen opponents are available, with the other 48 needing to be unlocked. Showcase mode allows you to fight as Mike Tyson, but also requires half of its 16 world champion boxers to be unlocked as you progress.
The game features a rotating isometric perspective with the controlling view facing the opponent from behind your boxer. Training features a point distribution system (no hands-on boxer control) for aspects including skipping rope, punching a bag, food intake, speedball, lifting weights, circuits, sparring, and resting. Other options include unlimited practice, a management-only function (no actual in-fight control), and boxer prowess measured in strength, resilience, speed, endurance, and balance.
