Fantastic motor/driver for a great price!

These motors are roughly twice the torque of others I was looking at for comparable price--perfect for the CNC router I'm building! Having the driver included which I KNOW is meant to drive it was an incredible peace of mind. The dip-switch settings are very easy to follow (but note that they list switches 456 on the top of the chart and 123 on the bottom! I was fooling around with the current for a while thinking I was adjusting the microstepping...my mistake). The motor included a very nice spec sheet with wiring diagram. The one thing that wasn't explicitly spelled out--although a 2yr old could have figured it out--was that the red/green and yellow/blue wire pairs map to the A+/A- and B+/B- connections on the driver, respectively. It's probably also worth noting that you can ...

  • Great stepper and controler

Easy to hook-up Connect the stepper motor set the amperage and pluses on the dip switches connect 12vdc for the motor, apply a square wave 5volts max. to the step input. And your off. A simple 555 timer will make your square wave, 5 volts applied to direction and the stepper reverses . very strong motor. I had it running for 3 days on a 12v 7ah gel cell and a flashing led to make the pluse . Highly recommended

  • Seems like an excellent starting place

I have no specific use for this. I've read about and pondered the uses for stepper motors for years and think that my electronics knowledge base is to the point I want to play with one. Steppers seem like very cool things. Not knowing a whole lot about them, this seemed like a good start with several of the components put together in one package. Probably not the least expensive way to do this, but every new endeavor starts somewhere.

  • It's a great combo

The torque is good at low speed. At high speed it's OK. The microstepping is good.
