Bare Bones
If you need a bare bones unit that is easy to program and setup, this is the one for you. It has a capped hole for a forward reverse switch, but it's just a simple matter of installing a DPST bat switch and connecting it into the labeled socket on the PC board. They need to use a larger box for shipping, and pad the entire unit. Mine was shipped in a box that was the same size as the unit. The only padding was on the control face. My unit was dropped or something and received a good size nick on the housing. This would've not have happened if they were to have packed it in a larger box and padded the whole unit. great solution for home shop/small shop
I was initially skeptical about this product. I used one for my 1HP lathe. It was 3 phase and I only have 220 single phase in my new smaller shop. I was about to have to buy a new lathe. I decided to try this first. Glad I did. There is some HP loss but for my type of work where I face and turn mostly lighter parts it turned out not to be a big deal. Being able to slow the machine down from the dial is real nice too. I have a gearbox machine but its easy to dial it down, especially when checking runout or something like that. It worked out so well that I bought a second unit to run my Doall vertical band saw with same 3 phase issue. Instructions are very simple to understand. Great drive for smaoo HP motors
Not being familiar with small vfd's I purchased this drive for an older Craftsman drill press. I then installed a new 3 phase motor on the drill press. After setting the jumpers in the drive to the proper configuration I installed the drive and I was very pleased with how it operated and controlled the motor. The control of the speed is very good and repeatable. One thing I encountered was RF noise. I like to listen to talk radio in my shop and the RF interference created by any VFD is right in the frequency of the AM radio band. I purchased the KBRF 200A RF filter and installed it on the drive and the problem was solved. If you have a fair understanding of electricity and want a "simple" VFD for one of your machines I would highly recommend this drive and if you are in the vicinity of a ... Best "analog" style VFD for the price, by far.
This is the BEST VFD for adapting to older 3 phase machines that are 1hp or less. The price is LOW, The instructions are fantastic, it is easy to use and adjust also.

Running 3 Phase motor on single phase input
Our warehouse has single phase power. Needed to run a VIBCO 2P-800 vibrating motor which needs 3 phase power. Another guy did the wiring...but it took about 30-45 minutes ...our 3 phase motor is now running. Match up the spec numbers and make sure whatever your driving doesn't exceed this units numbers.
