I bought this cd for my brother, and he let me listen to it and I bought it for myself the next day because I loved it so much. I have loved this band since a-b life and they only continue to grow in skill. The cd seems to be about becoming less while God becomes more, All the songs seem to either point out our depravity or the source of our being, no fingers are pointed however the singer deals with this subjectively as I think we all should most of the time. The music is fantastic and grows on you every time. there is a more eclectic variety of instruments, harps, accordians, a mandolin I think, trumpets. These all add to the melodic richness of the songs. Some of the songs are quite epic while others are quiet and music box like, there is even one that sounds like it belongs in a modern spy thriller. I bought this cd cause I thought it was sincere and full of talent, and I still listen to it a bunch a month later, I recomend itRead full review
I decided to buy this CD because of the simply amazing track, "In a Sweater Poorly Knit" and because I had heard great things about the band as a whole. Even after only my first listen through i was in love with this record. Mewithoutyou has an a mazing talent for creating soundscapes that convey more of a general setting than an actual story. Oft portraying scenes of old fashioned rural life. Even if you don't pay attention to the lyrics, this is a wonderful piece of musicianship and emotion.
I love this album.
