Great Product
This Thermal Imaging Camera is a great value. It works as described. I used to sell a Flir Handheld unit several years ago, that unit then was around $1800.00, This unit is every bit as good as I remember that unit to be, and the screen is bigger when you plug it into your iPhone. It works well on iPad as well and the image fills the iPad screen. the focus takes a little practice, but works well, it opens the App by itself as soon as you plug in the camera. The camera does not drain the iPhone. I have recorded Deer at night in winter at about 100 yards with no issue, could have gone out farther. I have recorded humans at 200 yards in the daytime, in winter. It will be more sensitive in the Winter as the temp differential is higher. I have identified a mis-firing engine cylinder by shooting the engine when it was running, and detected a leak in an industrial roof by identifying a cooler area in the ceiling panels.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works but the quality of the picture is poor
For the money and as an entry level thermal camera this little device is OK. If you are looking for thermal camera that will work with your phone and is pretty inexpensive this may be for you but it is a pretty expensive toy. Know too that it will not work with an Otter Box type phone protector as the plug stem is too short. Seek Thermal Cam
When you use these with the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, or the iPhone 7 or 7Plus with a case on it, you need a lightning dock extension. Shop wisely for those and don't buy the extremely cheap knockoffs. Get the original one as it appears to be better made. The unit works well and does take a bit of playing with to understand how to operate it. It comes with a water tight case, which is a nice addition to help protect the lightning connector that sticks out the top of the unit. I like all the features on it, I wish it had a wider angle of view, but I guess the XR is designed for longer distances, it fits my phone even with the case on it!
