    A Walt Disney Masterpiece!

    I love the songs in this movie, they're really catchy and they help progress the plot. All the actors and actresses play there parts very well. It's great to see Bobby Driscoll and Luana Patten in another movie after seeing them in Song of the South. Two darling children! This movie has good family values as well! Disney did a great job on the DVD release. The film quality is excellent, it has great special features, and the artwork is beautiful. Highly recommend!

    An early attempt by Uncle Walt to move into live action film production

    SO DEAR TO MY HEART was an attempt by Walt Disney to transfer the type of characters and plots so successfully realized in his feature animations to live action musical settings. His choice of cast leads was only partially successful. Bobby Driscoll and Burl Ives certainly bring relaxed charm to their characters. Beulah Bondi is too stern in some scenes and unbelievably lenient in others. Very impressive in intense drama, here she seems either misdirected or overly histrionic. Luana Patten is unfortunately a well-intentioned youngster with only modest acting ability, Her tomboy character is largely a shadow trailing behind Driscoll, lacking driving force of its own. This fault lies partially in the screenplay, of course, and also in societal role restrictions on girls growing up in the ...

    So Dear to My Heart DVD

    I thought that I had bought all the old Disney movies and then I stumbled upon this one. I had heard that this movie was rare but thankfully I found this one sold for $24.00 dollars which is pricey for me but with this film normally being sold region 2 I just had to buy it. Absolutely worth it! Perfect condition aside from not having the inserts inside. I haven’t watched it yet but I’m super excited too.

    Hard-to-find Disney classic. Package arrive on schedule and in perfect condition. Plays beautifully. It was a cherished movie from my childhood and isn’t a well known one, so I feel lucky to have been able to purchase it here.

    Beautiful visuals. Great movie!

    One of Walt Disney's favorites. Largely forgotten today, probably because it espouses traditional values such as hard work, persistence, family loyalty and compassion. Yes, it is sentimental, maudlin and predictable. But it is beautiful. The art work, cinematography and visuals generally are outstanding. Unfortunately, out of print but still available here on Ebay and other places. A great movie.
