      Great train set but could be the greatest if there wasn't room for improvement.

      The face of Thomas was obviously designed by Chinese designers and looks nothing like the original– it's a big let down and one reason I nearly purchased a Hornby set instead. This is a pity. The train set is also a little bit too 'toyish' and doesn't need moving eyes or flashy controller. For example a more serious train set would have actual tracks which can be fixed to a plywood surface permanently. There are no mounting holes for the track and the track itself is not a genuine replication like the engines and rolling stock are. A more serious train set helps children's imagination and visualisation but toys are just fantasy. Having mentioned these quips, the paint work is excellent and precise with no over–runs or bleed–offs on to other parts. The detail is absolutely wonderful, ...

      Santa Came Through!

      My grandson is 7 years old and has autism. He loves Thomas the train and asked Santa for electric Thomas trains. He was so excited to see the cargo cars. He loves loading them up with pebbles (from the quarry) and acting out episodes from the Thomas series. He has no trouble making sure the wheels are on the tracks and changed Santa's track set up on his own. He loves that the cars can buffer up on their own. (So do I). Santa had set it up on the floor, and it worked fine. It also worked on a rug. Now we have it on a sheet of plywood on one of those folding tables, which allows him to see the trains better. Definitely a great toy for a Thomas fan.
