The 'bar' is raised
In these times one expects electronics to move at the speed of light. Just recently I decided to upgrade our systems because we were spending too much time waiting for 'boot up'. It's odd that we would have to go do something else while we waited for this boot up to complete. We would do something that would take a few minutes rather than sit like a couple of 'bumps'. Until we kept finding ourselves in this time warp we didn't appreciate how long a few minutes could be...nor how aggravating. I decided to upgrade even further and bought Samsung Evo and Pro SSD's. My computer now boots up in about 7 seconds and I'm on line in about 15. That's incredible. 15 seconds and I'm in my mailbox. I expect that this time will improve also since Windows 10 seems to get a little quicker as it finds its' way around a new system. It seems to streamline itself. With the old hard drive as a 'back up' and the reliability of a brand name such as Samsung it gives a peace of mind that all will not be lost! There's so much good to say for SSD's and their life spans are increasing with new advances. They've made me a believer! I use Macrium Reflect to clone since I don't find the 'Magician' interface user friendly. Macrium is simple and to-the-point so that I can set up the process in about 30 seconds and 10-20 minutes later have a whole new system 'on steroids'! Good but not best value SSD.
Great sequential read/write performance. Bought this used and it looks and performs almost as if it were new. Wouldn't have bought it if I didn't get it used though. They're too expensive new compared to similar drives. Included software is nice. Neat little Solid State Drive. In general, any SSD will speed up some computer operations really a lot. Start up time would seem to be around ten times faster. Plus odds favor that SSD's will be more reliable than the mechanical hard drives, but that will take a few more years to determine with certainty. And if you do not want to spend on a large capacity one, put your operating system along with the commonly used programs and files on a smaller drive and expect a major speedup.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

What an amazing difference in performance over the old platter type HDD. Received the SSD drive, and installed it the same day, easy to install. I haven't had any problems with the drive and works as it is supposed to. Now let me say, this is the exact same drive I received for Christmas that cost half again what this drive cost. Too bad I cannot return the first one. This drive was recommended to me by my son whom purchased the first and I enjoyed the first one so much I purchased a second one for a different laptop. This is a great hard drive, recommend the product 100%. But be careful, they say it is new open box, but i can tell mine has been used. I installed the drive, went to do a clean install and sure enough had to reformat the drive because the dumbass that used it before me forgot to wipe and reformat to factory settings. EMachine E525 come alive!
My eMachine was dead it was so slow before I installed this SSD. It was truly amazing how fast the computer is now. On a good day with the old harddrive it would take 30 to 50 seconds for Windows 7 to boot up, now it loads in seconds ( about 5 seconds) truly amazing. One bit of advice do not try to load windows on the partitions that come preloaded. Deleat the partition and create a new one, you should have no problem. I searched the internet to find an answer if this SSD would work on the eMachine E525, I could not find the answer. Well it does work great. Fantastic. One other side note Do Not try to defrag the SSD it is not like the old hard drive, defraging the SSD could slow it down. Bought this to replace a failing hard drive. Worked like a charm. The included software migrated all the data from the old hard drive and a little repair from the original windows DVD and all was working great. I recommend this to anyone who has an aging laptop. Want to bring that old laptop or desktop computer back to life? Then install a Samsung SSD and prepare to be amazed. With its over 500 mb read and write speeds this SSD was definitely made for speed and dependability! The 850 EVO is the top rated SSD on the market right now for speed and after buying and installing a couple of them in my gaming computers I can see the reports are true. Forget the Ram upgrades, if you are looking for speed and performance then go with the SSD first as they will make way more of a difference than any Ram upgrade possible. Nice 'System drive' for desktop
Just set this up and installed as 'C' front end system drive on my desktop, included software made migrating data and replacing old drive quick and easy ... package did not include one suggested cable, simple work around is just plug drive in with normal SATA cable and power then run software, for laptop you'd have to find the missing SATA to USB cable ... So far win 10 seems to have a bit quicker response with this relatively small drive. All in all this was/is a good deal for my purposes, would recommend ... 4 stars is because of the missing cable, throw that in and it would get 5 ...Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
