    The Perfect Solution for the tired Manhasset Music Stand!

    Ah, at last, the perfect solution for my sagging music stand. No more struggling to set large music binders on the stand. The lock (and it really does lock) was super easy to install, and now the stand feels like new or better! Now it call hold all kinds of stuff . . along with music! Thanks Manhasset for coming up with this.

    A bit expensive for a simple plastic piece

    The original music stand can hold about 7 lbs (not the 10-12 lb advertised) without dropping. With the shaft lock, which is easy to install and use, it can hold about 22-24 lbs before dropping. The mechanism is simple: the lower part of this plastic piece clamps to the fixed tube, while the upper part can be tightened around the movable tube. The piece probably takes 10 cents to manufacture, but is priced at around $9. Garden hose clamps that join two piece of hoses can be used instead at a fraction of the cost. A rubber grommet can be attached (glued) to the head of the screws (replaced with a longer one if needed) in hose clamp so that it can be hand-turned. The shaft lock can be left in the unlock situation for normal use of the stand.

    So useful - no stress

    I had used Manhasset stands in band & orchestra during my music student days. As an adult I have purchased several stands for my personal use. I saw the Manhasset Stand-Lock advertised and because I have very heavy rehearsal notebooks, I was sure this could solve/prevent the stand from slowly sinking...I purchased one Stand-Lock to start. After installing it and finding it to lock tightly but adjust easily, I ordered 2 more, 3 in total. I won't have a Manhasset without having the Stand-Lock attached!

    This is just the thing if you have an older Manhasset music stand that has a weakened spring. Beats using a clamp to keep the top from sinking.

    I WAS SCEPTICAL WHEN I ORDERED THIS ITEM BUT I CAN TELL YOU IT WORKS! THE ONLY PROBLEM YOU MIGHT RUN INTO IS IF YOUR EXISTING SHAFT IS TOO BROAD FOR THIS TO FIT OVER. OTHERWISE YOU'RE OFF TO THE RACES.
