Synopsis
Summary HTML5 for .NET Developers teaches professional software engineers how to integrate the latest HTML5 APIs and semantic markup into rich web applications using JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC, and WCF. Written from the .NET perspective, this book is full of practical applications and ways to connect the new web standards with your existing development practices About the Technology A shift is underway for Microsoft developers--to build web applications you'll need to integrate HTML5 features like Canvas-based graphics and the new JavaScript-driven APIs with familiar technologies like ASP.NET MVC and WCF. This book is designed for you. About this Book HTML5 for .NET Developers teaches you how to blend HTML5 with your current .NET tools and practices. You'll start with a quick overview of the new HTML5 features and the semantic markup model. Then, you'll systematically work through the JavaScript APIs as you learn to build single page web apps that look and work like desktop apps. Along the way, you'll get tips and learn techniques that will prepare you to build "metro-style" applications for Windows 8 and WP 8. This book assumes you're familiar with HTML, and concentrates on the intersection between new HTML5 features and Microsoft-specific technologies. Purchase of the print book comes with an offer of a free PDF, ePub, and Kindle eBook from Manning. Also available is all code from the book. Microsoft has taken clear steps toward making its web and mobile offerings, and Windows itself, work seamlessly with these technologies. However, designing great software for web devices such as smart phones and tablets requires very specific skills. This book shines some much needed light on those skills. HTML5 for .NET Developers details the steps necessary for the .NET developer to build fully featured HTML5 applications. Written from the .NET perspective, this book is full of practical applications and ways to connect the new web standards with existing development practices. It shows how to use JavaScript and jQuery for client-side application development, and how to take advantage of the numerous APIs available in modern browsers. ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY HTML5 is a suite of specifications for building web sites that are connected or disconnected. ASP.Net MVC is a web site framework that allows for rich semantic markup and deep integration with client-side architectures. ASP.NET MVC allows objects called Controllers to serve data quickly and easily to HTML5 apps running in any browser.

- r***1 (178)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThe book was exactly as described and arrived quickly. The only problem is a recurring one with this seller and other similar sellers - the book is poorly packaged in a plastic envelope and gets heavily bumped in shipping. I would like to see the books wrapped before shipment, but I understand this can't be done for cost reason. Luckily it isn't an expensive book, and I will continue to purchase basic books from this seller. A+++++
- 4***1 (1639)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseBook arrived quickly and is pretty close to "Very Good" description. Value priced and I'm glad I made the purchase as this is an excellent read. However, the book was mailed loose inside an over-sized plastic bag without any protection. Wrapped in a bubble wrap jacket would be a big help. A book can take a beating in USPS transit without some buffer. I can't tell if the bumps and dings were original or occurred in transit. I'd prefer to pay for shipping than have it sent with no protection.
