They responded with a helpful picture showing that the tubes extend beyond the box and into the control panel area. Now I have installed them and it all works correctly. The package arrived one day later than promised, but no big deal in this case. I was also disappointed that it came from Amazon since I ordered on eBay to AVOID giving Amazon more business.
