"Esther Averill's collection of Jenny Linsky books deserves special mention. ...Told in clear, simple language that will appeal to younger children, all of these stories are delightful and festooned with simple illustrations every few pages that enhance, but never dominate, the melodious text." -- The San Francisco Chronicle, "Esther Averill's collection of Jenny Linsky books deserves special mention. ...Told in clear, simple language that will appeal to younger children, all of these stories are delightful and festooned with simple illustrations every few pages that enhance, but never dominate, the melodious text." --The San Francisco Chronicle "Averill colors her stories with abundant flights of clever fancy... In wording, illustration, and design they offer to people of all ages a short interview of pure delight." -- The Saturday Review "There is a realness about Jenny, as well as a demure charm, that gives these annals of her doings a distinction lacking in many a more pretentious effort." -- The New Yorker "In Jenny readers meet the perfect friend--an honest, fun-loving, and loyal playfellow and comrade-in-arms. • Timeless reading for both children and adults.

I read Cat Club stories to our daughter when she was a little girl. She is over 50 now. The Cat Club book brings back cherished memories of time spent with my young child. The colorful stories keep a child's interest. The cats have individual personalities. Esther Averill is an excellent author. Her stories are timeless. Hopefully, a new generation of children and adults will discover and enjoy reading about Jenny Linsky, her friends and all their adventures

  • Timeless children's literature!

The stories about Jenny Linsky were favorites of mine when I was young. I hadn't read them for nearly 50 years, until I bought this book (out of nostalgia). The stories stand up to the test of time, and are still as fun and sweet as I remember them back in the day. I think these stories explain why I grew up to be a cat person. Enjoy them, and share them with a child you love!

  • Jenny and the Cat Club is a wonderful story of a little black cat who conquers her fears.

A wonderful story of a little black cat and how she overcomes her fear of not being popular. I have a copy printed in 1944 and read the book to my children and always loved it. When a neighbor moved into my neighborhood with a little black cat, who wore a red collar, like Jenny wore her scarf, I had to present the family with this book of the little cat's escapades.

  • Lovely and accessible reprint of 5 rare books

This book is a reprint of 5 lovely little books that are difficult and expensive to find otherwise. This is not a cheap OCR copy either, it is a sturdy and serviceable book that does justice to the originals.
