A charismatic performer with an incomparable singing style, Hillary Epstein writes songs that are reflective, soulful, often irresistibly catchy, and always authentic. Inspired by a variety of unconventional artists such as Nanci Griffith and Nina Simone, Hillary is 'well on her way to establishing a singular musical identity,' notes Jeff Jackson, music critic for Sonic Net, while New Jersey's WFDU calls her songwriting 'impressive and unique.' A native New Yorker who has been performing since an early age, Hillary studied drama, classical voice, and literature at Duke University. After graduating, Hillary worked as a book editor in Manhattan by day, while cutting her teeth in the New York City folk scene by night. 'Music has always been my first love,' says Hillary, 'but my experience editing books and working with authors has inspired ideas and helped me develop as a songwriter.' Hillary performs regularly at venues including CB's 313 Gallery, the Bitter End, and the C-Note in New York City, and on Long Island, in Westchester county and the Albany area. This past year, Hillary launched several tours throughout the Southeast with NYC-based singer-songwriter, Meghan Cary, playing in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. When not touring, Hillary works for Hospital Audiences Incorporated, a non-profit organization, performing in human service settings throughout greater New York City. Hillary has just released her first CD produced by singer/songwriter/producer Scott McClatchy.
