    the Bad Popes - E.R. Chamberlain

    So all the horror stories about Thomas de Torquemada, the Borgias etc. are all here confirmed. A fascinating read. One wonders how this brutal institution has survived for so long but then the same can be said about the New York Mafia crime families - it's all about pay up or else!!
