    A riveting encounter with Native American life and spirit in a new era

    This film, which made its theater run thirty years ago, was one of my favorite films of the decade. Earthy, moving, dramatic, and eerie all at once, it contains performances by Graham Greene, Sam Shepard, Val Kilmer, Sheila Tousey, John Trudell, Julius Drum, and Ted Thin Elk that are trenchant and unforgettable. My lifelong fascination with indigenous Indian culture was nourished wonderfully by this film, which I just watched again with my son's mother. She was as taken with it as I am.

    Interesting crime movie title for a movie set in a very interesting setting!

    Forerunner to TV Longmaire Series The entertainment media needs to shed light on Indian life on an Indian Reservation. Indians living on Reservations have a way of life that is uniquely different to most Americans. It would be interesting to have an American Indian writer, director, and actors produce and star in their own production (movie).

    A solid story of Native Americans and clash with big gov––who saves who––there's more than money.

    Very good character development. Solid story. Interesting, hidden unknown environment and social dynamic on the reservation, politics, greed––and personal change for the better. Graham Greene is fun and compelling. Val reveals potential of character, and Shep is a SOB. Enjoy the heck out of this movie.
