The only thing that works well is the Blu-ray player on this device other than that the smart portion of this device is poorly designed. Even though it is Wi-Fi you can tell it's very dated and you can't even watch YouTube through the smart aspect of the player. I was very disappointed I'm glad I did not purchase it for any other reason than watching Blu-rays!

There are a lot of 3D Blu Ray Players available - many have internet access - BUT most limit internet access to specific services such as Netflix and Hulu (and subscriptions can get expensive!). This player allows users to surf the internet, and bookmark favorite sites. I really enjoy the movies available on the Internet Archive and Top Documentary Films sites, so this Blu Ray player allows users to watch internet movies on their big screen TV - instead of on a computer monitor. Not all movie formats are supported however. If you want to surf you will need a wireless keyboard. Set up was easy, although the player wanted to update all the installed movie sites (like Hulu), which slows the process down. While the specifications state a High Speed HDMI cable is required, I used my "old" HDMI cable with no problems at all. I've read several reviews of this player on several selling sites - and they seem to be either 100% positive or 100% negative - apparently there were some quality issues and some players didn't work at all, I have had no problems. There are some other features on this player that I really haven't explored yet - you can link other internet-connected devices, and can store movies on the "cloud". The biggest down side of 3D is the limited number of movies available. But really most movies don't lend themselves to 3D - it is especially good for Sci-Fi movies, and animated films. Based on my experience (so far) I would recommend this player.Read full review

After our old Blu-Ray player quit working, we bought the BD-E5900 which has been great. It works well and does more than we will ever use. I really like the fact that it has actual push buttons instead of the touch buttons that don't want to work unless you keep tapping them, which pushes the player back with each tap!! It is definitely a good value for the price!! Though we have only been using this unit for a couple of months, there's not much too dislike. I guess Samsung could have put a eject button on the remote, however that's not really a problem for us!! Would definitely recommend this unit!!!
With the few test I have run on this Blu-Ray Player the main functions I am concerned with work well and the Netflix interface goes back to the good old days of not having to select a profile which was a pleasant surprise and has become my favorite aspect of this Blu-Ray Player.

I admit I'm a tech guy. I had just purchased a 47" 3D Visio at Wall-Mart for a very low price but admired the Samsung with it's Smart Hub. So I bought one of these for it's Smart Hub feature and 3D player, I found this used & on EBay. Easy set up worked perfectly offers everything I wanted without a hitch. Lots of free movies and the Web browser worked. What I do like is Samsung's updates on hardware and it's software automatically. There is no better unless you can buy unless you buy the latest newest version. This being a series 5 version.
I purchased this product to get the combined functionality of a Blu-ray player and a smart-tv. My existing smart-tv was Apple TV 2. This was a big mistake. The Samsung is bugging in many ways...remote control apps are inconsistent, pre-loaded apps such as ...........also don't work. The wifi reception in very poor and streaming is often interrupted and buffering. I never had any problems with the Apple TV regarding wifi. Finally the processor in this device is painfully SLOOOOW! Thumbs down on this purchase. I wish I would have pulled the trigger and returned it.
Works great. Capable of far exceeding my mediocre requirements of playing HD, 3D, bldu-ray and regular DVD. The manual, say book, is fairly comprehensive, and will ultimately facilitate using all of the instruments features. Quality: A+, Ease of operation: B, an overall great product!
awesome for the price. Very clear picture quality. Very easy set up. It updates itself with the click of one button so not to complicated. The only down side to the whole thing is while loading it is not very quiet.
Well...We must be honest... We were not impressed or satisfied at all with this product...Very slow at loading everything...Difficult to use the All Share app as well as the built in browser... Device would not recognize many files on our networked PCs...But when it did they did play nicely...Although it would not keep them in nicely organized files & categories as we had them on our PCs... We tried a wireless keyboard & mouse with this device but it was still rather slow & difficult to use. Videos play nicely from USB & on Blu Ray. Long story short...We bought this item & have already resold it!
