- Gran Turismo 5XL is an upgraded version of 2010s Gran Turismo 5 that adds in a wide range of downloadable content and updates that have been added to the game since its original release. The extras provide players with many more cars, game modes, rewards, and online options, and the game has been patched to fix glitches that have arisen since its launch.
Sony's fifth entry in its flagship racing series includes over 1,000 licensed cars that, for the first time in the franchise, will show real-time damage based on the point of impact and rate of speed. Other visual enhancements include smoke from tires, sparks from rollovers, and the gradual accumulation of dirt. The vehicle physics engine introduced in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has been replaced with a revamped model to offer more realism. Play modes include the GT Career Mode, Championship Races, Arcade Mode, and License Tests, with a progression system that lets you earn credits to further customize your ride(s).
The career option features a world map that lets you enter races, visit licensed dealerships, browse various tuning and body shops, and view nearby car washes to return your vehicle to its showroom state. More than 20 tracks are included, each supporting over 70 variations to offer new twists and turns each time you play. Snap photos of your best races from multiple angles and store them in an album, or capture replay footage to share with others on YouTube. Four players can compete via split-screen display, and up to 16 can battle each other online via PlayStation Network. Online features include public and private lobbies as well as text and voice chat. Owners of the PSP version and/or Gran Turismo 5 Prologue can also transfer unlocked vehicles to the PS3 game's garage.

Not the best racing simulation out there
While the graphics are good, the look of the cars leaves a lot to be desired. The cars do not look dimensionally proportional...... at times they look to short, sometimes the vehicles height is to low.....while its not a life and death situation, you can never get away from the realization that this is a game simulation, and not that really good at it. And this is just basically an add on to a previously released Gran Tourismo.

This is an amazing game. Stunning graphics and a huge car collection to choose from. The ONLINE mode is some kind of confusing when you want to search for a game, because there is no a filter option to use quickly and there should be a better interface. It's kind of boring. Also, you should spend about 3 - 4 hours loading the content to your PS3 the fist time you insert the disc (depending on you Internet connection speed) so you won't be able to play it right away. But if you like to play for hours after that, this is a great game. The Special events option offers lots of money when you n win, so it will help you to improve your cars and buy more. I highly recommend it.

I was expecting more....
don't expect too much of this game. the gameplay is like any other Gt series out there. new cars new locations etc . as a ps3 game its like any average game in my opinion. since i play on pc alot , im used to high detail and textures. in this game , at times the texture quality is very low. i was expecting more , and the car destruction is very basic , your front bumper will break , nothing special. as a driving simulator its mucj as a DRIVING SIMULATOR NOT A REALISTIC CAR ANIMATIONS , CASH ANIMATIONS OR ANYTHING , the way the car moves , turns, break , is real . well the game is not yet a real life driving simulator to where you can loose you wheels if you crash , but you can wear out your tires and gas. i guess we will have to wait until the next ps4 and get gt6 and see what improvements the game will have without the limitations of the ps3's hardware . cant wait. if you a ps3 only gamer and you like racing games , you will most likely love or like this game , coming from a ps3 to pc and back to ps3 then back to pc gamer...TheOnlyAndrewRead full review

Great game but takes a while to download to start playing-This game takes patience as I think it's kind of complicated-Basically make sure you have a lot of time to start playing this-don't expect to just press start and play right away-I'm not complaining for the price I paid-That's just my opinion-

The best and most realistic racing game in the history!
I bought it because it is much less expensive from the retail store. I like it because it offers free download from the PSN, so I can begin this game with bunch of cars without the hassle to make a lot in-game money to buy cars. Everything is great expect the loading time. It takes long to load a race even though I have already installed 8GB in my HDD.I can’t image how long will it take to load a single race if I choose not to install to my HDD. Other from the loading time, I think this is by far the best and most real racing game in the world. Even it has already out for almost an year, it is still the best. Think about how much time and how detail the development team put in, not to mention the money they have spent for the car liscese. This game is worth for the full retail price for sure!
